Description
Though best remembered for their membership in The Strawbs, the duo of John Ford and Richard Hudson worked together both before and after their '70 - '73 stint with the folk-prog band. Previously working in Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera and then The Velvet Opera, the two moved on from The Strawbs and its accompanying disputes to form their own group, Hudson-Ford, in 1975. They settled on a sound that ranged from soft rock to glam, without ever completely forgetting their electric folk background. Previously just the rhythm section (bass and drums) in The Strawbs, Hudson and Ford embraced being centre stage in their new project, with Hudson leaving the drums to others in order to focus on singing and lead guitar, and Ford expanding his vocal and acoustic guitar duties. “The A&M Albums” celebrates their three album run at A&M Records, and contains debut album “Nickelodeon” and the hit single “Pick Up The Pieces”, and subsequent releases “Free Spirit” and “Worlds Collide”.

About "Freak'in" time. :yay: These discs have been on my "Still Not On CD" for years. :ohyes: Caroline does good work, The Motors album collection as example.
As one could deduct, I have pre-ordered!

A little background from Wikipedia

Hudson Ford were a UK rock band-style duo, formed when John Ford and Richard Hudson left Strawbs in 1973. The original lineup featured Hudson (now playing guitar instead of drums) and Ford along with Chris Parren on keyboards, Mickey Keen on guitars, and Gerry Conway on drums. Conway left in May 1974 prior to the recording of "Free Spirit" and was replaced by Ken Laws. Mickey Keen left the band in December 1974 and was replaced briefly by Mick Clarke, formerly of The Roy Young Band. Mick Clarke moved to the United States in 1975 and was not replaced. The lineup remained stable from that point until the group dissolved in late 1977.

The first album Nickelodeon also featured session musicians including Rick Wakeman.

In 1979 they re-surfaced billed as The Monks.

Hudson and Ford had been in Elmer's Gantry's Velvet Opera in the mid 1960s and they both left the group and joined Strawbs, where they stayed until forming "Hudson Ford".

My box set came yesterday, all albums include bonus tracks. Caroline UK has done another excellent job as they have done in other boxes such as 'The Motors' that they have released.
