There seems to be some confusion on Amazon.uk. In 1 place they call it a box set, in another they say 1 disc. The reviews seem to indicate it's a 1997 show (& if the reviews are accurate, this is a reissue; either that or Amazon made a boo boo). While the price is great, I pretty much lost interest when the band mostly became Swarbrick & Pegg.

It's going to be a 3CD compilation. There might be some live tracks included, but it's basically an extensive best-of. (The current reviews on the Amazon UK listing page are merged from other similiarly-named Fairport releases, and none apply to this forthcoming one.)

If it's mostly early material (imo their glory days were from the debut - Denny's last return) this is a steal at the price.

Interesting cover photo of a non-prime time band lineup. If this is truly an all encompassing historical comp, I'd think it'd attract more attention if a Sandy and Richard lineup were on the cover...

The cover is the same as was used on a 1997 release, which ,as Linda said, also had the same title. That release contained new tracks as well as 2 live ones. If they're using the same title and the same cover that really muddies the water.

90's & '00's FC releases have a somewhat dodgy history similar to Quicksilver, C&N's Wimd On The Water, etc. I.E. not totally illegal, but a bit dodgy at times. The overstock market is crammed full of late period Fairport on labels no one has heard of (some of which is worth getting due to the many "guest stars" at the yearly Croperdy shows).
With Spectrum being Universal, this one will definitely be legal; but my GUESS is it's more late period dreck. Hopefully Linda is right & this is a great bargain. More will be revealed.

What do you think of it, Geff?

What do you think of it, Geff? A good buy, though I suspect most of cd's 2 & 3 are post Thompson & Denny.
