What if it was a really good movie? Why root for failure?

There's rumors that Affleck may be dropping the character now as well. Not sure how much they had him contracted for.

Can't they both succeed with LEGO doing better?

Reeves would be a very good choice to helm a Batman movie.

However, I have a hard time believing that any top-tier director will sign on to this picture without knowing for sure if the lead actor is going to stick around or walk off the project entirely.

Affleck played Reeves in a movie. True fact!

Before Affleck got the job, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was rumoured to be the next movie Batman. I'd like to see that happen now.

Their movies always seem to be such a mess.

If JLA and WW stink up the joint, it's reboot time.

They just started off on the wrong track and tone with MoS, IMO, and chose to keep all the wrong things thematically. WW looks pretty good but early reports are that the story is a mess. I never had much hope for JLA. They're far too invested in this cinematic universe thing to bail and restart now, so I'd expect, if anything (assuming these underperform), a tonal shift while keeping the same cast.

The worst thing that could happen is for JLA to be middling to mildly successful.

I'm against reboots. Just evolve. Let a good director do something with it that people like. James Bond model.

I think what Jay is saying is that he enjoys prequels.

I agree 100% with this.

People instinctively understand the who/what/why of these characters. Even people who aren't comic book fans 'know' who they're supposed to be. Reboots where we get yet another other big-name actor to portray Alfred or Jor-El (for example) serve no purpose. Any actor can be those guys, people will 'get' who those characters are regardless of who plays them (we all know Batman has a loyal Butler who knows about his secret identity and we all know the backstory of Superman's parents sending him to Earth, so just stick an S-Shield on their chests and have them wear something futuristic looking during a brief flashback where they launch the rocket and embrace as they watch it leave; people will get it) and if someone's a decent professional actor, then they can be Superman or Batman without having to undergo the hundredth 'origin movie'.

I've been saying this for years.

I think it was a collaborative effort...we all created that idea using the IMWAN method.
