The label is Vivid, which has reissued a number of vintage rock and soul albums on CD in Japan.

I always thought that Vivid was on the up-and-up, but they do have a patchy track record. Some releases are well done, some are vinyl rips. Assuming this actually makes it out the door and isn't stopped by somebody in the Fleetwood Mac camp, I'll take a chance on the CD once it reaches Amazon's third party Japanese sellers.

My guess is bootleg. I have also seen a recent Korean boot on the net with lots of bonus tracks; I think that one is a copy of a "fan club" free release.

If nothing more, maybe something like this pushes the issue a bit and encourages a reissue of the real thing.

If this CD actually makes it to release, we'll have to see what it's sourced from. Like I said, the label's track record is patchy.

There are excellent needle drops out there that they could source from (no audible vinyl artifacts). I'm not familiar with Vivid. I do know there are a number of small Japanese labels that appear to be legit and actually aren't.

I have always wondered why some of the music is released in Japan and not in the US. It seems like no matter how small a market, the demand would be larger in the US.

I'm pretty sure CBS/Sony has released Cold Spring more than once on cd.

Yes they have.

I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac fan of all eras (especially the Big 5 and the Green years), but to be honest, the Buckingham/Nicks album isn't all that good.

Is it more the quest for a legit release that people want it so badly, or am I missing something about the album itself?

Geff, sorry I posted that in the wrong thread. LOL I meant to post in the Friday thread. Cold Spring Harbor being on Long Island - the Island thread.

I disagree on BN; I've really liked that album for years. I bought the vinyl after hearing the Mac White album.

I do think the artificial scarcity has heightened interest; similar to Young's Time Fades Away & Journey Through The Past; & everything by the DC5 (a great early 60's singles band; but highly overpriced in collector's circles for the amount of throwaways on the albums).

Bought the gatefold LP brand new in about 1976. Found a download about 2 years ago of a "deluxe" version that features the original 10 songs, 2 single mixes, 6 cuts from what may have been their 2nd unreleased album, plus 3 live cuts of a Buck Nicks concert. I've read somewhere (forget) that the tracks on this new Japanese release might be the same as that "deluxe" download. If that's the case, then the track list would look something like this:

1 Crying In The Night 3:00
2 Stephanie 02:13
3 Without A Leg To Stand On 02:10
4 Crystal 03:49
5 Long Distance Winner 04:47
6 Don't Let Me Down Again 03:53
7 Django 01:02
8 Races Are Run 04:14
9 Lola (My Love) 03:31
10 Frozen Love 07:18
11 Crying In The Night (Single Version) 02:59
12 Dont Let Me Down Again (Mono Single Edit) 03:31
13 Sorcerer 04:44
14 Garbo 03:15
15 Cathouse Blues 01:41
16 That's Alright 03:11
17 Candlebright (Aka Nomad) 02:12
18 Without You 03:39
19 Lola My Love (Live) 04:19
20 Races Are Run (Live) 04:39
21 Rhiannon (Live) 3:04

But I want the box set, with the 2nd unreleased album, and live concerts, yada yada. Come on, Stevie !!

Amazing, the recent Korean 'leg (complete with a Korean style obi) is identical.

01. Crying In The Night (02:57)
02. Stephanie (02:12)
03. Without A Leg To Stand On (02:09)
04. Crystal (03:48)
05. Long Distance Winner (04:46)
06. Don't Let Me Down Again (03:51)
07. Django (01:02)
08. Races A Run (04:14)
09. Lola (My Love) (03:29)
10. Frozen Love (07:17)
bonus tracks:
11. Crying In The Night (Single version) (02:58)
12. Don't Let Me Down Again (Mono Single) (03:30)
13. Sorcerer (04:43)

I've seen 3 very high quality 'legs: the fan version that Robin posted above, a straight needle drop, & a 96/24 needle drop

I've had a nice needledrop of this for what seems 20 years and it sounded fine. Not really a CD I feel a great need to have at this point. If it "officially" came out here, yeah sure then I'd buy one.

I likely would too, unless it was so brickwalled that the needle drops sounded better (a possibility).

Coincidentally, I just received a notification from Spin CDs that this will be released on the Korean Big Pink label on 3-31-17 in a limited cardboard mini-LP sleeve. The same 21 cuts as mentioned above...

It's the same CD. Big Pink is an imprint of Vivid. But if they're referring to that as a "Korean release", then perhaps what Geff said holds true:
