Overend Watts, bass player for Mott The Hoople, has lost his battle with throat cancer.

Oh dear
My extremely eccentric, lovely mate - Peter Overend Watts - has left the building.
Devastated.

So sad to read this. Mott The Hoople were one of my fave bands back in the day. Ian Hunter words express my thoughts as well.

RIP Overend and a big Thanks for all the great years of music.

F#@& :ohno:

Thank goodness for the reunions they had, even though Buffin was already too sick to really participate.

With Ralph's loss of skill, & Overend & Buffin gone, there's no more reunions left to happen.

Hope Ian stays with us a bit longer..........

God this getting old SUCKS.

For those not real into Mott; Pete was the one who really took to glam naturally.

At least I got to see them once in their heyday, though it was unfortunately with Grosvenor.

Same here. One of my biggest regrets is never getting to see them live. Almost went to England for one of the reunions. Will miss you Overend. Carry on Ian!
