Very cool. Longtime Al fan - I go back to the "My Bologna"/"Another One Rides The Bus" days when Al was recording in a bathroom in San Luis Obispo (if I recall). I saw him tour with Dr. Demento - meeting the doctor was a total thrill, although I did lose the autograph I got that night. I've lost touch w/Al's more recent stuff, in large part because I'm not as familiar with the stuff he's parodying now. But I might be in for this...

Let's put this in Collector's Corner until there's news of a general release.

I'm not enough of a fan to buy this but it looks like a really fun package for his fans. A major oversight, though, is the lack of a career-spanning video collection on DVD &/or Blu-ray. I know there's already one on the market, and since his visuals are as important as the music for many of his songs, it seems pretty essential to a "complete" package.

I think that's why there's no DVD, as there's already one on the market (which needs to be updated) and this is audio-only.

That would've been a very nice inclusion, but my guess is something like that is coming soon.

I guess my point was that an overview of Weird Al's career should really include a visual element, regardless of the availability of a separate DVD.

Even at a young age, this man had a lock on his art.
Based on this previously unreleased track, I might be in for the box since i just have a comp and maybe one or two more recent albums.

Don't know about March 20th, specifically, but the availability deadline is probably as accurate as every other PledgeMusic exclusive which ended up in general release a few months later. The standard retail version might be missing an exclusive lithograph or t-shirt or somesuch.

The Erasure box that's due at Amazon next week is the latest example of a Pledge exclusive which ended up being available outside their system, and cheaper:

Honestly, I'd be very surprised if this Weird Al box isn't at Amazon for Christmas season. Don't base your purchase decisions on this opinion -- I'm just tired of these "website exclusives" which turn out to be anything but.

It seems petty at this point for an artist not to allow him to release a parody. He has never done anything mean-spirited to artists and most artists rightly feel it's a compliment when he does these.
