Easily the worst album of their career, but an interesting experiment.
Hair Metal, drum programming, mullets and guitar synths however were not a wise move.
This album alienated the fanbase for sure.
I am shocked this is getting the Deluxe treatment but as a diehard, I'm in.
I have the radio concert on cassette somewhere but sure, I'll get this anyway.
Why haven't they done Deluxes for the older albums they haven't done yet first???
I liked it initially. But as time wore on and they got back to their basic sound, I started to detest it. The VHS video that came out after that tour was abysmal. I was struck by the look they had and the silly stage antics.
Now days, if one asks me what my favorite songs on this are, I'd have to say Out in the Cold and Reckless with Turbo Lover coming in a distant third. The rest? Bleh.
And yeah, why wasn't Point Of Entry or Unleashed In The East given equal Deluxe Edition time?

What I'm waiting for is a Painkiller deluxe. My hope is that they put the live 1991 show from Irvine Meadows on there. I saw Priest on that tour in Dallas..... and was blown away.
That entire Irvine Meadows show is on YouTube now.

It's too bad the band/label didn't get a bit inventive here and have the band go in and do some work on the leftover demos and do this reissue as the double album it was intended to be in the first place.
This release seems especially pointless because the Priest...Live! album already covers this tour. This release adds Locked In, Desert Plains, Victim of Changes, The Green Manalishi and subtracts Parental Guidance, Screaming for Vengeance and Rock Hard Ride Free.
I agree 100% with Mark's picks...Turbo Lover, Out in the Cold and Reckless are the good songs on this and the rest is pretty ordinary.
Still a way better album than Demolition which for me is by far the worst album they ever did.

Now you've got me remembering that horrible cover (and video) of "Johnny B. Goode"
But yeah, a DE of Point Of Entry would be nice.
"Johnny B. Goode" was Johnny Be Bad.
Absolutely terrible.
That was on Ram It Down though which is also abysmal.
A deluxe Hell Bent For Leather (or Killing Machine for the UK) is what I'd like next.
That era of Priest is kind of a blur for me. All I remember is the hairspray, bad hair metal outfits and Rob's stringy hair.
Also, this has been bugging me since the first post. I know it's not Linda's fault, but the description is just wrong - the album didn't use "synthesized guitars" but instead featured (I believe) Glenn Tipton playing a guitar synthesizer. A synthesized guitar would be a sampled guitar sound played through some other means (such as a keyboard), whereas a guitar synth in this case was an actual guitar (I think it was one of the early Roland models) that had a special pickup that used the strings to trigger samples. They were very popular around this time, and I believe Iron Maiden used the same system on Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son of A Seventh Son. I know Queensryche also talked about exploring the as well so they wouldn't have to use a touring keyboard player.
Call me pedantic, but it's just wrong.

Originally recorded with the band's long term producer Tom Allom, this album marked a distinctive change in the band’s sound by the use of synthesized guitars but still keeping their classic Heavy Metal style that Judas Priest were synonymous with.

Yep, Maiden used them and did it a little better in that regard. Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son of A Seventh Son were good albums, better than Turbo. Personally, I like Seventh Son of A Seventh Son better.

Maiden used guitar and bass synths in 1986-88 but have had a permanent keyboard player since 1988 who I've only seen on stage once in a cape at least 15-20 feet above the stage named Michael "The Count" Kenney.

Joseph makes a great point here.
Why not the double album as originally planned?
Just more live tracks from another radio broadcast.
It does keep in line with the other Deluxes which is to add a live disc and nothing else other than a DVD sometimes.

Somebody on a metal forum (would credit if I could remember which board it was) pointed out that the Stock Aitken Waterman sessions would have made an interesting inclusion. Those were actually done during the Ram It Down era, but since a deluxe version of Ram It Down might never be released (not that good of an album and was a decent but not big seller) it would have made sense to put them on this deluxe version. The songs might not be very good, and the pairing was fairly ridiculous, but if they were given an official release I would definitely be adding them to my collection.

This is what the Turbo Deluxe should've had:
Songs left over from Twin Turbos No. Title Album on which they later appeared Length 1. "All Fired Up" Turbo reissue 4:45 2. "Red, White & Blue" British Steel reissue 3:42 3. "Prisoner of Your Eyes" Screaming for Vengeance reissue 7:12 4. "Turn on Your Light" Defenders of the Faith reissue 5:23 5. "Ram It Down" Ram It Down 4:48 6. "Hard as Iron" Ram It Down 4:09 7. "Love You to Death" Ram It Down 4:36 8. "Monsters of Rock" Ram It Down 5:30 9. "Heart of a Lion" Metalogy 3:53 10. "Under the Gun" Unreleased 11. "Fighting for Your Love" Unreleased
This was the second album of the double album and obviously some of it ended up on the dreadful Ram It Down album.
Many of these cuts were used on the individual remasters but made no sense where they out them, so having it properly go where it should and adding the still-unreleased cuts would've made sense.
But why make sense?
Just give us another radio concert broadcast...
