This is actually very reasonably priced for all 26 of their studio albums plus 3 CDs of nothing but non-LP tracks and rarities, 307 tracks total. $139.99 from Amazon in the US plus free shipping although there is tax for many of us, making it $150 vs. $137 from the UK (after VAT is removed). So, a $13 savings from the UK although the risk of box set damage rises due to travel time from overseas. Hmmmm...

Oh my.

I love this band to death.

I have a lot, but not all of the Red Bullet/Universal remasters.

Are these remastered?

If so, I have to have this.

I'll also be interested if these are remastered.

Agree, time to round up what I have of Golden Earring for trade to initial the funding of the box.

Update: I "locked in" the U.S. price. This is such a good band and an unbelievable history. The amount of excellent music made available in this set makes this decision easy.
Also my indies, who have comps on this band tend to be very expensive another good reason for the lock in on a great price

Rick:

What do you get for the older CDs?

Anymore, I can't think of how I would even get more than $2-$3 even for a remaster.

We still have a used CD store but there's no way they could give me any more than that.

I have a lot of older remasters and good quality CDs to get rid of, but I'd rather give them away to the kids at school then sell them for $2 or $3 unless you have any tips.

Hey Pete,

I can get $4.00 beacause they are import and if I buy the box set there I can get $5.00 each. Grant you I only have about 5 that I would trade in, I will never sell my originally "Moontan" on MCA re-mastered by Hoffman disc.

To be honest, I am not sure my indie can match the Amazon price but I'll let him make me an offer.

Is this from a store?

That makes more sense.

I hate just selling my imports off for nothing but I guess it adds up and one must suck it up and realize that what was spent years ago means squat now!

I assume these will be clones of the previous mastering, once again fans are given the dilemma of whether or not to invest in a set with content they own most of. If the price is right I might bite at a later date.

Yes, a local indie. I having second thoughts in that I believe a reseller maybe more advantageous in pricing as the year moves forward.

Especially if we discover that these are simply represses of the original cd's.

Yeah, it has depreciated if sell at store but if you sell on EBay or Amazon you may do much better. At least their not downloads, trying selling that?

There is no way I'm not getting this, after seeing this.

I have the 4 CD box set and only about half of the remasters, so it's a no-brainer for me.

Wow!

Golden Earring is a band I'm woefully under represented with, think I only have the Greatest Hits.

I'm intrigued by this. I just have their hits CD. If I enjoy that is this set a good bet?

Hell and yes.

What you will find is a band that was basically the Dutch Beatles in the early 60s (after starting as The Tornadoes).

Seriously, their early material is so much like the Beatles including their first hit "Please Go" from 1965.

The next few singles/albums were a mix of Beatles/Stones/Kinks/Hollies/Who/Moody Blues and were very good.

By the late 60s they started experimenting and would soon become a Prog Rock beast unleashing lengthy epics that were mind-blowing, mixing Hard Rock/Psychedelic Rock/ and Prog Rock.

Songs could be anywhere from 6 to 15 minutes.

Into the late 70s they were still doing this style and mixing in excellent Pop and Rock hits.

Albums like Moontan (their US smash which went Gold), Switch, To The Hilt, Mad Love and especially the double-live Live are phenomenal.

The 10 minute live version of "Eight Miles High" (yes, The Byrds song) is intense.

George Kooymans is one of the greatest guitar players I've EVER heard and the whole band was on fire which is why The Who took them on tour and signed them.

The late 70s/early 80s had wonderful Power Pop, and then got more commercial as the decade went along and the MTV era came in.

They lost their way with a few clunkers in the late 80s but returned to an organic sound in the 90s and also did 3 incredible acoustic "unplugged" albums that were huge sellers.

The 2000s saw them releasing fewer albums, but they were simply awesome collections including 2012's Tits & Ass.

I can't begin to say enough about this band and they should absolutely be in the Rock Hall of Fame if it mattered.

On top of that, they were one of the zaniest live acts you could ever see.

They are still a great band.

I hope that is endorsement enough!

I'm so glad to know others like this band as much as I do. I can't wait for this set! Btw, the US price just dropped to $119.99.
