The albums up to about 1982 contain some great songs and some really awful stuff. The greatest hits album has most of their best songs much the same as America & Doobie Brothers etc

it is quite difficult to find these little river band CD's on the used market, why, i have no idea.

i tend to agree with you about the little river band, but america and the doobie brothers both have some really wonderful deep cuts.

and the entire doobie brothers albums of 'the captain and me" and "living on the fault line" are top notch from beginning to end

The Doobie Brothers were very much an album band.

Aside from the tentative debut album, every album up to 1975 is fantastic from start to finish.

A great mix of Rock, Southern Rock, Pop, Country Rock and even nods to Prog and Jazz Fusion.

The McDonald era wasn't my favorite but even there, there are album cuts equal to the singles and throughout their career they always had excellent instrumentals.

I don't think the hits albums are an adequate way to judge this band at all.

Probably a similiar package like the Raspberries and Bob Welch sets. Hopefully Andy Pearce is involved.

This box set collects for the first time all the albums the band recorded for Capitol records in the late 70’S and 80 are arguably the bands most successful period.

Re-mastered from original tapes, these recordings are now becoming collectors’ items on CD as they have not been available for a number of years on that format. Mastered by Andy Pearce who has breathed new life in to these recordings.

I'm a little dumbfounded that the press release for the box set doesn't bother mentioning the "classic" lineup of LRB (including the four original members) that appeared on the "First Under The Wire" album : Beeb Birtles, Glenn Shorrock, Graeham Goble, Derek Pellicci, and David Briggs (who joined the band in 1976).

Birtles, Shorrock, Goble, Pellicci, and Briggs were joined by new bass player Wayne Nelson on "Time Exposure" -- John Farnham replaced Shorrock as lead vocalist for "The Net" album and remained through "No Reins".

I have two Caroline box sets and the re-mastering is pretty good. I found "The Motors" box set to be top notch.

the 2 albums that came before these sold pretty darn well too. would rather have those than that dreadful live album.

They should have dumped "Backstage Pass" and added their first four albums -- "Little River Band", "After Hours", "Diamantina Cocktail", and "Sleeper Catcher" -- unless they plan on releasing these as a separate box set at a later date???

i think those were on a different label, so i kind of get why it was done (or not done), but in this day and age i really can't imagine that it would have been difficult to get the rights, its not like people are clamoring for little river band albums.

I would have preordered this if the first four albums were included. Their self-titled album is almost impossible to find.

I just found this on Amazon UK !

Guess the current version of the band doesn't want to be outdone by the originals !!!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MYEI8X9/?tag=imwan-21

Still makes me laugh that with no original members the current lineup still has the audacity to claim it's THEIR 40th anniversary........
