From what I've heard so far, this will be a less-twangy album, with fewer ballads. Jim Cuddy pointed to Elvis Costello as particular inspiration. Presumably he's talking about albums like King Of America and National Ransom, rather than This Year's Model or Blood & Chocolate.
If I had to point to prior albums that it sounds like, I'd point to Are You Ready and Small Miracles.
While Bob Egan did play on the album, he's left the band to raise his new baby. He's no longer in band photos, and no replacement has been named. I'm curious to see if they fill it immediately, as they didn't have a pedal steel guy for the first three albums. I'll be seeing them in Vancouver on January 28th.

New video for "I Can't Hide This Anymore"
Their new pedal steel/mandolin/fiddle guy is Jimmy Bowskill, who was discovered by Jeff Healey when he was 11. BR has two albums that are older than him. Not an official member...yet.
