No doubt, the Dini/Timm show was *my* Superman.

The 1960s Filmation cartoon is my favourite, followed closely by the 1950s George Reeves live action series.

Had to give the love to Smallville, but the 90s cartoon was rad.

This being said, if Superman only, Timm/Dini.

My son loved the Filmation series when it was rerun in the afternoon on Cartoon Network years ago.

I'm the one who voted for "Lois and Clark." To me it seemed to strike the right balance between not taking itself too seriously, yet not turning the whole thing into a joke.

"Smallville" seemed like an impressive show, from what little I saw of it. But not my cup of tea.

And the "Superfriends" cartoon? My biggest memory of Superman in that was a scene where he had to stop a robot impersonator from destroying a base on the Moon or Mars. They flew around for a couple of seconds, and then Superman pinned the imitator's arms behind its back and announced that he would hold on until the robot's charge ran down. Talk about your epic superhero battles....

I was introduced to Superman by the 1950s George Reeves live action series, *
which led to the Wayne Boring Sunday Newspaper strip,
which led to me noticing an issue of Action comics at my Mother's Dentist's office waiting room,
(Aha! That's what they mean at the end of the show when the announcer says, ".... Superman magazines."),
which led to the local candy store's spinner rack in Spring of 1962,
which led to a lifetime of Joy and Good Values that is still going strong today.
Thank you, "Adventures of Superman"!

*Much like a friend of ours across the street who happens to be a contemporary of mine.
I wonder if this is a 'universal experience for our age group.

BTW, the current Supergirl series "feels" the most like the original 1950s Superman series to me.
Honorable mention goes to the Gerard Christopher seasons of Superboy for being most like the comics, IMHO.
