[2016-09-16] Pete Townshend's Deep End "Face The Face" DVD/CD set (Eagle)

Description
This show was filmed for the famous German TV series Rockpalast at MIDEM in Cannes on January 29th, 1986. Pete Townshend's Deep End were touring in support of Townshend's solo concept album White City: A Novel. Several of the musicians that appeared on the album were featured in the line-up of the Deep End including Pink Floyd's David Gilmour on lead guitar. The set list has tracks from the White City album, other Pete Townshend solo tracks, Who classics, David Gilmour's song Blue Light and a couple of surprises. Pete Townshend and the band deliver an outstanding performance that showcases him as a solo artist as distinct from his work with The Who.

Still no details except that it's a two-disc set. That could mean two DVDs, or one DVD and one CD. We shall see.

Follow the link in the first post to the amazon offering. Description has a track listing for a DVD and a CD. Identical except "I Put a Spell on You" is DVD-only.

Agreed. I don't think he ever did a solo show here, but I'd love to see one. It's one of the few bucket list shows on my list.

This looks very similar to a VHS release from the late 80s.

This is an abridged version, but I'm positive I have a longer version of this.

I've seen this. This is a different performance than the one I believe is entitled "Pete Townshend's Deep End". That one was recorded in England. This one is from Germany.It's not been released before. It's a good one. Recommended for Pete fans.

I got mine today, and it's pretty awesome. The picture is great - not modern-looking, but it looks great. The sound on the DVD is banging, and the band grooves hard. It's very odd to see David Gilmour playing a single pickup Charvel. It's hard to believe this is 30 years old.

This is easily one of the top releases of the year for me.
