David William Huddleston (September 17, 1930 – August 2, 2016) was an American actor. An Emmy Award nominee, Huddleston had a prolific television career, and appeared in many films including Blazing Saddles, Crime Busters, Santa Claus: The Movie and The Big Lebowski.
Awww, man. That guy was everywhere. Character actors like him don't come around as often as we'd like.
I just saw him in an episode of Bewitched. He was just sitting there in the bar - don't think he had any lines. But he appeared 3 or 4 times on that series.
First worked 1960 - last worked 2014, according to the credits given in IMDB. 54 years of great characters. What a guy. It's always comforting, and it adds something to a show, when you see him there.
"Now who can argue with that? I think we're all indebted to Gabby Johnson for clearly stating what needed to be said. I'm particulary glad that these lovely children were here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age."
RIP
