Say what bad things you might about something like this, Zep has alwys given their fans a choice for purchasing the format that they choose without having to pay for a format that they don't want and still getting every note of music. They did this with the studio re-releases as well. I'll be in for the 3 CD set.

How about having to pay for two extra discs that are already in the collection of the majority of interested fans? Why not just release disc three of this set as a standalone release for $12? Pack it with the two already released CDs and then charge the consumer $25. "Sunshine Woman" is hardly a new discovery, probably the only thing that will interest many people, was available to put on the original release and now appears to have been held back to try and soak as many people as possible...loyal consumers who already bought this release once now will have to shell out $25 to get the one song they want.
There was talk that the original release was supposed to be 3 CDs and Atlantic forced it down to a 2 CD release. Obvious label cash-grab 20 years later.
This one is an easy pass on principle alone. I will be more than happy to spend the $25 on two CDs by newer artists rather than shell out money for this...especially when 2/3rds of the music is already in my collection.

If it had the unedited version of "Whole Lotta Love" I would be in.
Back in the early 80's, before people worried much about such things, a now defunct radio station in Dallas played bootlegs of the Playhouse Theatre and Paris Theater shows, including the unedited Whole Lotta Love medley. I happened to be a nut about recording songs off the radio at the time and was able to record the whole thing. I wore those tapes down all the way through high school.

Per Acoustic Sounds there is also a download code with the super deluxe. Bit/sampling rate not stated. Hopefully 96/24 & hopefully available separately. Right now they're saying the dl code only comes with the S.D., which is way past my price point or even desire (I already own the cd's & no longer own a turntable)..

All of these songs should have been Bonus tracks on the last round of remasters. They were held back for this collection to soak more money out of their incredibly loyal fan base.

I guess the questions I have are (a) whether this collects all of the remaining, surviving BBC recordings, and (b) where, when and how the tape of the so-called "lost session" surfaced, and how well it sounds.
That said: I remember picking up the 2-disc version at Circuit City for some ridiculously low price back around 2001 or so--maybe tten bucks--and while my seventeen-year-old self might have obsessively played this over and over again, full-blast, on headphones, my adult self has never really mustered the time or the inclination to play it more than once every couple of years or so.

Zeppelin has been my favorite band since I was 12 and I've happily spent money on anything they've released...including all of the super deluxe box sets of their studio albums. As much as I love them, I can't justify spending the money for this box set. I will be happy with the 3-CD version. I never knew I had a limit when it came to them but this is it.

I swear to God--two announcements in the same week about upcoming releases of rare/unreleased Led Zeppelin and Beatles music, yet all people seem to be doing is bellyaching about how they're somehow getting screwed or something.
If collecting music made me this consistently miserable, I would have given it up years ago.

I'm not miserable re: either; Just plan to pass on the Beatles unless it's a remix, & will only by the LZ as a standalone Download. I am satisfied with my Current LZ BBC 2 CD set, & I never liked Beatles at Hollywood Bowl. You're welcome to buy both!

I remember buying the Led Zeppelin DVD and How The West Was Won for $19.99 at Circuit City in Princeton the week they were released. Such a deal.
Regarding the BBC tapes, I wish they had left in the announcer introductions that I remember from my broadcast tape in the 80s. "And now a typical Led Zeppelin stage show closing...," was classic.
