I received an e-mail from The Alan Parsons Project via PledgeMusic this past Friday 6/17 :
"Tales of Mystery & Imagination" Box Set Pre-order "Tales of Mystery & Imagination" Box Set exclusive memorabilia and merchandise. Boxed Set Welcome to the Alan Parsons Project PledgeMusic page.
We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first APP album ‘Tales of Mystery and Imagination’ with the release of a superb Box Set edition.
Whilst going through our archives to research and find material for this new edition, we found a wealth of original memorabilia associated with the making of the album. Rather than it all sitting in a box for another 40 years, we have decided to allow a select number of items to be sold.
Between now and the release of the re-issue we will be adding even more items to those already available to pre-order here on the page. In addition we will be offering exclusive merchandise as well as the remastered Vinyl release of Eric Woolfson’s follow up album “POE More Tales of Mystery and Imagination”.
Finally, as the campaign progresses, we will be allowing Pledgers a sneak first listen to previously unreleased tracks included in the new Box set edition (ahead of its release) and a first look at some of the images and photos discovered in the archive.
We hope you will enjoy this Tales of Mystery celebration and thanks for all your support over the years.

Yes it will eventually be available through all good on-line retailers, but if you order through Pledge you will get regular exclusive updates building up to the release date.

That's a tough time of year to release something like this. Who can afford to spend that much around the holidays? Furthermore, no one is likely to buy this kind of thing for us. Maybe they should wait for first quarter 2017.

Bump: This just went up for pre-order at Amazon UK, now linked in the first post. We don't yet know if there will be a domestic release, but the British pressing costs only about one-third of what PledgeMusic was charging. (Amazon UK currently lists it as 5 disc set, but Universal's solicitation describes it as 6 discs: 3 CDs, 1 Blu-ray, 2 LPs.)
