Mark Wahlberg confirms he'll star in more 'Transformers' movies
Mark Walhlberg has confirmed he'll be back for at least two more Transformers movies.
The actor made his debut as single father and struggling inventor Cade Yeager in this year's Tranformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth film in the franchise based on the toys created by Hasbro and Tomy.
The typically high octane adventure, in which Wahlberg starred alongside Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer and Jack Reynor, became another big hit for director Michael Bay and is currently the only film released in 2014 to have grossed over $1 billion (£640 million) at cinemas globally.
Asked by MTV if he'll back for another outing as Cade Yeager, Wahlberg said: "Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more… you know I can't speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon."
The fifth Transformers film is set for release at some point in 2016 and Bay, who has directed all four films in the series to date, has previously said he won't be returning to sit behind the camera.

Michael Bay Returning as Director for 'Transformers 5'
Michael Bay is returning to the director’s chair for another Transformers movie.
The director, hitting the press circuit for his latest Paramount movie, the Benghazi action thriller 13 Hours, confirmed to Rolling Stone that he will direct the new installment in the multibillion-dollar franchise.
Paramount recently held sessions with writers to create a new direction for the franchise, with the new script being written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man) along with Black Hawk Down scribe Ken Nolan.
Mark Walhberg, who starred in Transformers: Age of Extinction, is expected to return. Age of Extinction was a reboot of the previous three movies, but this new movie is expected to change gears as it attempts to create a greater cinematic universe for Transformers.
Bay insisted to Rolling Stone that this will be his last. "Transformers, I still have a great time. It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else," he said.
But Bay has said that before, only to return to the robots in disguise movies.

Paramount Dates Next Three 'Transformers' Movies
Paramount has dated its next three Transformers sequels, and they will come in quick succession beginning in 2017.
Transformers 5 will open on June 23, 2017, while Transformers 6 will come a year later on June 8, 2018. And Transformers 7 is slotted for June 28, 2019.
The first four Transformers movies, which launched in 2007, have earned $3.8 billion at the box office worldwide.
Transformers 5 will open up against Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman. Transformers 6 is set to duke it out with Warner's Godzilla 2. June 28, 2019, is currently unclaimed, so Transformers 7 has the summer slot all to itself at the moment (though Disney will release The Incredibles 2 the week before).
Michael Bay, who directed the first four Transformers films, has said that he will direct Transformers 5, but that it will be his last.
There are some eight writers who have worked on drafts for Transformers 5, with Akiva Goldsman taking a leadership role in the script development. Mark Wahlberg — who starred in the fourth installment, Transformers: Age of Extinction — is expected to return for the franchise's fifth chapter.

Josh Duhamel to Return to the 'Transformers' Universe
Josh Duhamel is getting back in the fight between the Autobots and Decepticons.
The actor will return to the Transformers universe in the franchise's fifth installment, Transformers: The Last Knight, where he will reprise his role as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox.
Duhamel appeared in the first three Transformers movies but was absent from the Mark Wahlberg-starring fourth film, 2014's Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Wahlberg and director Michael Bay have already taken to Twitter, welcoming Duhamel back into the fray.
The eternal battle between the vehicularly inclined alien robots will wage on in The Last Knight, which is set to hit theaters in 2017.

Anthony Hopkins Joins 'Transformers 5'
Anthony Hopkins has joined the cast of Transformers: The Last Knight.
Michael Bay will direct the fifth installment of the Paramount franchise that sees giant robots battle for intergalactic supremacy.
Mark Wahlberg will be back to star as the disgraced scientist turned hero, Cade Yeager, and, after a brief one-movie hiatus, Josh Duhamel will also be returning to the franchise as the ever-villigant Lt. Colonel Lennox. No details were given about the role the English actor will be playing.
The announcement was made on the Transformers Twitter page with a message that read: "The man, the myth, the legend – help us welcome Sir Anthony Hopkins to the #transformers universe."
Hopkins will next be seen in theaters this August, in the Nicholas Hoult-starrer Collide.
The Transformers films have grossed over $3.7 billion at the worldwide box office, a number that will only continue to rise when The Last Knight hits theater on June 23, 2017.

Michael Bay Casts "Britain's Loneliest Dog" in Next 'Transformers' Film
Michael Bay has added a four-legged castmember to Transformers: The Last Knight.
Freya, an epileptic six-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier, was last month dubbed "Britain's loneliest dog" by British paper The Mirror after spending almost all her life living in a rescue center in Liverpool and overlooked by a reported 18,000 potential owners after being picked up as a six-month-old stray.
But the wait, it seems, may have been worthwhile, with Bay revealing on Twitter that she would star in the fifth Transformers installment, set to start shooting in the U.K. this summer. The director also said he'd find the dog a home and, should this prove impossible, bring her home to live with his two bullmastiffs, Bonecrusher and Grace.
"We are thrilled at the opportunity of a movie deal for Freya and at such interest and support from a major film director who is also a dedicated animal advocate," said a spokesperson for the Freshfields Animal Rescue Center, which launched a Facebook page and even took Freya on TV in an attempt to find her a loving home. "We look forward to showing the world what a wonderful and special dog Freya is. Watch this space for further details!"

I apologize, Michael. This makes up for me somehow seeing every Transformers movie in the theater despite not actually wanting to see any of them except the first one.

The Latest 'Transformers' Star Makes Its Debut
It might be a good thing that the Transformers are known for being "more than meets the eye," because the newest robot in disguise to be introduced from next year's Transformers: The Last Knight doesn't look particularly impressive at all.
In a couple of images debuted on Instagram — one via director Michael Bay's own account, a second via the official Transformers movie account — an all-new character has been unveiled: Sqweeks, who appears to be a blue Vespa scooter come to adorable life.
The character, who hasn't previously appeared in Transformers toys, cartoons or comic books, is "here to destroy your auto-correct," according to the Transformers caption — perhaps a sly comment about the fact that, when he debuted on Michael Bay's account, his name was spelled "Squeeks."
Sqweeks isn't the first original Transformer to debut in the movie series; although the original 2007 movie used characters familiar to the franchise, as early as 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the movies had started to add new robots into the mix in background roles. None of the earlier additions have been this cute, however.
Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth installment in the franchise, will be released June 23, 2017.

'Transformers: The Last Knight' Reveals New Megatron Image, Character Details
For next year's Transformers: The Last Knight, Megatron is back with a whole new look — and an almost laudable ambition, if it wasn't for the method he intends to use.
A brief fact file released via the official Transformers Twitter account offered a glimpse at the new design for the Decepticon leader — one that looks far more like historical armor than movie audiences might expect, complete with two new weapons — a sword with an axe head, and (to the almost certain glee of fans of the character's original design) an arm-mounted cannon.
The image also reveals Megatron's height — he's apparently 30 feet tall, if you're curious — and the most tenuous definitions of "history" and "personality" yet. His history is defined as "ruthless Decepticon oppressor," which, while true, feels more like a personality type than an actual history, while his personalty is described as "peace through tyranny," which sounds more like a motto than a personality description.
It is, however, a nod to a fan-favorite Transformers comic book run: the 2008 Transformers: All Hail Megatron comic book series from IDW Publishing, which lasted 16 issues, saw the Decepticons having finally conquered Earth. With the Autobots vanquished (and scattered across the galaxy) and humanity cowed into submission, he had indeed achieved peace in an admittedly skewed sense … Is there a clue about the direction of The Last Knight to be found in that series, perhaps? After all, an earlier tweet profiling another Decepticon did reference the phrase "hail Megatron"…
Transformers: The Last Knight will be released June 23, 2017.
