Batman Begins is great,Dark Knight is half great, and Dark Knight Rises is a mess. First Avenger is real good,Winter Solder is nigh perfect, and Civil War is damn good. So,Cap.

This DC guy thinks The Batman trilogy (great as Dark Knight was) is a movie series about a guy who dresses as a super-hero and does those kinds of things that super heroes do. The CA (and all MCU movies) are about super-heroes who do those kinds of things that super heroes do. So: Cap.

Dark Knight and Winter Soldier are two of the very best movies I have seen in the last decade. Both of their precursors felt uneven to me - I liked them well enough but nether of them was as good as the first two Spider Man movies or X2. I liked the third Batsy but found the plot holes more distracting than in the one before and Tom Hardys pantomime voice was a baffling choice. I still haven't seen Civil War.
Verdict TBA!!

I haven't seen the Civil War, but the 3rd Batman one was not nearly as good as the two Cap ones were. And the reviews of Civil War suggest that is the case also with the third one. Therefore, Cap.
The first two Batman ones were really really great though.

Capt America.
Caps weakest movie was the his first then the rest of the trilogy is flawless.
Batman's first two movies were great but his last one is dull horrid mess.
Comparing the weak points of their series I would take First Avenger over Dark Knight Rises more times than not. Plus there's something about ending the series on a strong note rather than a weak one.

I'm a bit surprised at how lopsided this turned out to be.

But where the Captain America trilogy takes the lead is in the third film. Civil War is MUCH better than Rises. Plus, Civil War just came out, so it is fresher in people's minds.

The third Cap film introduces too many new characters that weren't in the first two Cap movies, and therefore I didn't know who they were, like Iron Man.

Personally, I don't consider the Captain America movies a trilogy in the way people usually mean, like with LOTR and Star Wars. They don't interconnect to tell one longer story and require you to view other films outside of the trilogy to understand them. I personally consider Winter Soldier > Age of Ultron > Civil War to be more of a true trilogy.

As Hanzo said, Batman Begins/The Dark Knight/The Dark Knight Rises form a true trilogy. To borrow a term from Umberto Eco's essay about comics, Nolan allowed Batman to be 'metaphysically consumed'. i.e. he allowed the story of Bruce Wayne to end; the movies form a perfect circle, a complete, near-perfect, resonant and emotional mythic cycle. This is the complete antithesis of superhero comic book storytelling, with its emphasis on infinite, never-ending storylines.
Which is exactly what the Captain America movies do. They are fully immersed in comic book time, and that makes them the most successful adaptation of comic book continuity ever made, their strength comes not only from the movies themselves, but from the feedback from other Marvel movies. However, if I squint a little, and judge them solely on the title character, they tell a fulfilling and engaging story about Steve Rogers that can be considered "complete". The Avengers movies enrich the Captain America ones, but they aren't as essential to Steve Rogers as they are to Tony Stark. However, the purpose of the Captain America movies are the complete opposite of the Nolan movies, at least as the MCU stands now. They are meant to continue, not end. More "Oneiric" than "Consumed"
Still, we need to compare them, because that's what we do, and comparing each movie in the series makes it easier. Both Batman Begins and Captain America: The First Avenger are about as perfect introductions to their respective characters as they can be, but I give the nod to Batman Begins. The Dark Knight and Captain America: The Winter Soldier make for interesting comparisons, as they both deal in similar themes; I like how when presented with the tools for a potential police state, Batman says "OK, I'll use it just this once and just because I am me" and Cap immediately goes "Fuck it, I'm having none of this shit". They are both widely regarded as two of the best superhero movies ever made, and I give the edge to The Dark Knight because I think it still is the best superhero movie ever made. So that's it, even if I didn't love The Dark Knight Rises as much as I do, The Dark Knight Trilogy would win 2-1.
So, my vote goes to Batman.
Still, it's just a matter of degree. Batman and Cap are two of favorite superheroes, and just having these two series is awesome as far as I'm concerned. Add Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past and a random wildcard depending of my mood, and it's my top ten of superhero movies.

I'm just free associating here, since I haven't seen three of the six movies under discussion, but out of curiosity, do you consider the non-Marvel/non-DC movies when thinking of your favorite superhero movies? Stuff like The Mask or The Crow, or Mystery Men, or stuff that isn't an adaptation of a comic book property, like The Incredibles or Sky High or Unbreakable? I realize those just might not be among your favorite superhero movies anyway, but do those even get considered when you're weighing? When these kind of questions come up, I sometimes find it easy to just start going through only the Marvel and DC adaptations in my head, but I personally really like a lot of the non-Marve/non-DC movies like the ones I listed above, and I feel like a few would probably make my top ten. Certainly The Incredibles. So, do we count this stuff or not?

Also why is everyone giving Hanzo credit as the guy who observed that the Cap films aren't really a true trilogy because they are part of a universe with the other Marvel films? That was obviously my point when I posted this gem, well before Hanzo said a word.
