The biggest problem with Super-Soldier is his cowl. They had an uber-obvious costume idea and didn't use it...

Bah. Cap's got a letter on his head, Superman has a letter on his chest... it's perfect.
Plus, I never liked the open-headed cowl mask. It looks dumb to me.

I think a lot of the Amalgam costumes didn't work when they took exact elements from each costume and combined them. They should have just tried to combine the spirit of the suits... I think something in the vein of Alex Ross' Super-Woman costume could have worked very well.

Wow, that looks a lot less like the Superwoman costume from the 70s than I remembered! I was going to comment that he didn't create that costume, but while they share some elements they aren't very similar.

They more that they add to the basic Superman costume concept, the worse it looks.
