Description
Fleetwood Mac's streak of five consecutive multi-platinum albums began in the 70's and continued in 1982 with MIRAGE. During the summer of 1982, MIRAGE topped the album chart and added to the band s already impressive canon of hits.

Available on July 29, this new deluxe edition expands on the original album with newly remastered sound, a second disc that has 19 tracks dedicated entirely to outtakes and rarities, as well as the stories and pictures behind the album.

Among the unreleased gems are early versions of several album tracks along with outtakes for songs that didn t make it to the album. There is also an unreleased cover of the Fats Domino classic Blue Monday, as well as the rare, extended mix for Gypsy that was used in the music video.

Exclusive to the deluxe edition of MIRAGE is a third disc that has more than a dozen live performances recorded in Los Angeles during Fleetwood Mac's 1982 U.S. tour.

The DVD-Audio disc contains both the 5.1 Surround and 24/96 Stereo Audio mixes of the original album. The set also includes a vinyl copy of MIRAGE.

Set includes 3 CDs, 1 DVD, 1 LP: Original album remastered, b-sides and rarities; live performances; a 5.1 mix on DVD; and the original album on LP.

I pretty much gave up on Fleetwood Mac after Tusk, but I'd be in for something like this.

I really like Mirage. I am concerned that ALL the FM dvd-a's (while yes they are in 5.1) are somewhat brickwalled, & the 2.0 96/24 flat transfer of Mirage sounds superb; so my choice on this will solely be based on bonus material & price.

about time! ...now let's get on with it so we can move on to Tango In The Night.

Finally!! Just gimme 5 demo versions of "Smile At You" and I'll be happy...

That will never happen!
And that album is still a dud all these years later.

I BELIEVE that's a brickwalling issue also; I have owned 3 different versions (CD, DE CD & DVD-A) & they have all sounded mediocre or worse.

Question is whether any non brickwalled master or multi track survives. If it does, I'll bet ya $5 it could be improved!

I like that album other then the sound quality. There is a song by Stevie (I forget the title), about "dancing" (emotional dancing; not physical) that I really like. In fact, I consider it her last great song as of today.

i don't believe there was much peripheral material from the Mirage recordings - maybe some radio edits and the longer-video version of "gypsy."
my guess is that it'll all neatly fit on one disc, unless they decide to throw in demos and live material.

Tango In The Night, on the other hand, has a plethora of tasty extras with superb b-sides and some not-so-great 12" remixes, but still worth having for the music whore/completist like myself. it'll need to be at least a 2, maybe even a 3 cd set. i'm truly excited for both of these.

I had 1 Christine McVie B side from this period at one time on a 12"; I don't remember if it was related to Mirage or to Tango. Was C McVie even on Mirage?

She certainly was. She was the last of the front line to drop out.

"Hold Me" was one of Christine's, the first single from the album. MTV played the video in heavy rotation, peaked at #4.

The B-side of "Gypsy" was Lindsey's spare arrangement of Roy Rogers' western classic "Cool Water," which wasn't on the album.

she wrote or co-wrote/sang 4 tracks.

she wrote 'love in store' 'only over you' 'wish you were here' and the hit - 'hold me'.

The b-side I'm referring to was non LP. I can't come up with the title at this moment, as i sold my vinyl & I only have it on some needle drop cdr that's been packed. I don't think the song I'm thinking of is "Ricky" (Lindsay sings more on that then Christine though she is credited as writer); on the other hand I added a needle drop of that song to a needle drop of Buckingham Nicks, so it MIGHT be the one I'm thinking of); I can't find any other CM B-side title from that period on the net, so I likely won't be able to come up with it until after I move.
