On the strength of the $65M-plus domestic opening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Paramount announced this AM that a sequel is underway with Michael Bay steering the production once again. The project from Nickelodeon Movies will bow on June 3, 2016. Bay will produce alongside his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum & André Nemec (Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol) are again coming aboard to write the sequel and will also receive an exec producing credit. It’s not clear if Jonathan Liebsman will again direct. Kudos to Paramount’s marketing team led by Josh Greenstein — talk about negotiating from a place of strength.
The date for the sequel will come the same weekend as Sony is scheduled to bow the Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen comedy Sausage Party (Ugh, that title … must we?) and a week after Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Fox’s next X-Men installement, Apocalypsecalypse

Tyler Perry Joins 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Sequel
Tyler Perry, the actor best known for playing the incorrigible and sassy Madea, will don a different kind of suit now that he has signed on to join the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Perry will play scientist Baxter Stockman in the new movie, directed by David Green.
Will Arnett and Megan Fox are reprising their roles while Stephen Amell is one of the new additions, playing Casey Jones.
Stockman is one of TMNT’s major villains, a scientist who first creates the Mousers, a line of rat-destroying machines. Later he becomes a cyborg.
Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing.
Perry, repped by WME, continues to appear in the Madea movies, which he writes and directs, but occasionally branches out when something special catches his eye. His last such appearance was a small supporting role in Gone Girl.

He’ll join Megan Fox (April O’Neil), Will Arnett (Vern Fenwick), Stephen Amell (Casey Jones) and Tyler Perry (Baxter Stockman) in the Paramount sequel. Michael Bay will once again produce with his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. David Green is set to direct from a script by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec.

Tee recently finished filming NBC drama pilot “Love Is a 4 Letter Word” from director George Tillman Jr. and writer-producer Diana Son. Laura Linney Joining 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2'
Laura Linney, the three-time Oscar-nominated actress known for her dramatic work, is picking up a pair of nunchuks and joining the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.
The Paramount sequel, based on the 1980s comic that spawned toys, cartoons and movies, is in production in New York.
Megan Fox and Will Arnett are back for the sequel, which also has newcomers such as Arrow star Stephen Amell and Tyler Perry — the latter another brow-raising casting.
Details about Linney’s role are being kept hidden deep in the sewers.
Michael Bay, Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form are producing.
Linney has stayed away from big-studio franchise movies until TMNT 2, but the actress, now a new mom with a 1-year-old under her belt, is becoming open to projects that are geared toward younger audiences.
Her more recent movies have been a mix of period pieces and dramas, ranging from Hyde Park on Hudson to The Fifth Estate. She is currently onscreen opposite Ian McKellen in Mr. Holmes and also has the all-star 1920s literary drama Genius — with Colin Firth, Guy Pearce, Jude Law and Nicole Kidman — in the can.
Linney is repped by ICM Partners, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Morris Yorn.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' Giving Away Movie Role for Charity
It's time to use turtle power for a good cause.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is giving fans a chance to win a role in the upcoming film, thanks to a charity contest from Omaze. The winner and a friend will be flown to the set, put up in a four-star hotel, meet the cast and get a walk on role in the film.
The contest benefits The Giving Back Fund and its Charlotte and Gwenyth Gray Foundation to Cure Batten Disease. Batten Disease usually strikes in childhood and is a fatal, inherited disorder of the nervous system.
Omaze has become a favorite among stars wishing to hold charity contests. Robert Downey Jr.'s campaign offering a trip to the Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere holds the record as the highest earning context for an individual (more than $2 million raised), while The Star Wars campaign to visit the Force Awakens set raised the most money to date overall (more than $4 million).
Paramount Pictures upcoming Ninja Turtles film once again stars Megan Fox as April O'Neil and includes Arrow's Stephen Amell as Casey Jones. Dave Green is directing the Michael Bay-produced film, which is set for a June 3, 2016 release.
