Warner Bros.’ ‘Lobo’ Lands ‘Wonder Woman’ Writer Jason FuchsQuote: It will be the screenwriter’s second adaptation of a DC comic book and third movie for Warner Brothers
Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are turning to their “Wonder Woman” writer Jason Fuchs to pen “Lobo,” TheWrap has learned. The project marks Fuchs’ second within Warners’ DC universe following “Wonder Woman,” indicating a certain confidence in Fuchs’ work on that upcoming superhero movie starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine.
Insiders suggest that Fuchs will start from scratch with his own take on Lobo — an alien who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. The character became a popular figure among fans of DC comic books following his revival in the early ’90s as a biker anti-hero.
Warner Bros. did not respond to a request for comment.
Brad Peyton (“San Andreas”) signed on to direct “Lobo” and rewrite Don Payne’s script in April 2012, with Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman producing. Fuchs is currently writing the sci-fi movie “Luna Park” for Paramount, Skydance, director Doug Liman and star Tom Cruise. He previously wrote WB’s “Pan” and the sci-fi movie “Rust,” which remains in development at 20th Century Fox.
Fuchs is also an actor who will soon be seen in the musical “La La Land” with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. He’s represented by WME, Brookside Artist Management and Bloom Hergott.

Quote: Warner Bros. Wants Michael Bay for 'Lobo' — But at the Right Budget
Mega(tron) director Michael Bay may be going from the world of giant robots to the alien worlds of DC Comics.
Warner Bros. is developing Lobo, a feature based on the muscle-bound, cigar-chomping alien bounty hunter, as a possible directing vehicle for Bay.
There are no negotiations — heck, there’s not even an offer from the studio — but a dance between the two has begun. Part of any decision will rest on a rewrite that scribe Jason Fuchs would need to do.
Sources said that Lobo, as it currently stands, would be a tentpole costing upwards of $200 million, a figure that has Warners execs reaching for the Maalox. Bay, too, has signaled that he isn’t keen on the massive nature of Lobo. The intended rewrite would scale down the project while still keeping the director’s interest.
In the comics, Lobo is a foul-mouthed mercenary who looks out for himself above all else. The antihero first appeared in the pages of 1983's Omega Men No. 3, with the character created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen. He possesses super strength and healing powers that make him a formidable match for heroes and villains alike.
A movie adaptation of the character has been in various stages of development for over 15 years. Will Smith and Dwayne Johnson have been connected to the project, while Guy Richie and Brad Peyton have previously been on board as helmers.
Bay last directed Transformers: The Last Knight, which opened in June, and is producing the upcoming Bumblebee spinoff for Paramount. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat- ... ct-1083170

For those not familiar, the face on that Lobo figure looks like the face of Claude Akins, actor who played Sheriff Lobo in that classic spin-off from BJ and the Bear. (and also in BJ and the Bear). Historical note: "the Bear" was not a bear, but rather a chimpanzee.

At what age are they not both awesome? Well...chimpanzees still kind of are, I guess, but to me big rigs started seeming less awesome when I got my driver's license and had to share the road with them. They started getting scary when I began sharing the road with them on a motorcycle. Try stopping at a red light sometime on a bike with what looks like a mobile WALL coming up behind you! And when you meet one on the highway, the blast of air coming off of it sometimes feels almost like a punch.
