Description Midnight Mushrumps is the second studio album from Gryphon. It is a great album that is both creative and very original throughout. The album was released on Transatlantic Records and was recorded in Oxfordshire, in January 1974. After the success of the first album, "Gryphon", with its medieval folk sound, this second album retains some of those elements but expands the style by taking a further step towards Rock and Progressive Rock. Gryphon was one of the more unusual of the folk-rock groups to come out of England in the 1970s, mostly because they didn't confine their musical genre-melding to folk-rock. Spawned at the Royal College of Music, they started out making a name for themselves in folk-rock, but their classical training and their approach to composition, recording, and performance soon took them into the much bigger field of progressive rock, and eventually had them playing gigs in front of arena-size audiences.Tracklist 1. Saw these guys open up for YES during the "Close To The Edge" tour at MSG. Interesting guys, playing medieval/folk/rock music with both instruments from that era and new instruments like the Moog synthesizer.

I saw them with Yes, also, for the Relayer tour. They were really good.

More prog than their first album, but less so than their third.
