Description
Deluxe two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 0 DVD) edition. After achieving mainstream success with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow on the Down To Earth album in 1979, crowned off by a headline appearance at 1980's debut Monsters Of Rock festival at Castle Donington, Graham Bonnet released the highly successful Line Up solo album in 1981, before taking the lead vocals on 1982's Assault Attack in 1982 by the Michael Schenker Group. By 1983 it was obvious that Graham should recapture some of his Rainbow glory days by forming a new band with a similar vein of melodic hard rock running through it. To that end, he formed Alcatrazz with a formidable, but relatively young 20 year old Swedish guitarist named Yngwie Malmsteen. Bonnet and Malmsteen formed an impressive song-writing partnership. Making a healthy dent in the upper reaches of the US chart, aided by videos aimed squarely at MTV, nowhere was Alcatrazz's impact felt as strongly as Japan, where the band became instant stars. A Japanese tour was booked for early 1984, with plans to record a number of dates for the inevitable Live in Japan LP. As it happened, the performance at Tokyo's Nakano Sun Plaza venue was deemed so good that no other concerts were considered for inclusion on the release. Initially released as a single LP, this version of Live Sentence now includes no less than seven bonus tracks, assembled in the original set-list order. Also included is a DVD of the entire set, giving the fan the complete concert experience. Also included on the DVD are three exclusive tracks filmed for Rock Palace USA. As well as classics from Alcatrazz's debut, the band draws on Graham Bonnet's extensive career, including MSG's 'Desert Song', his solo hit single 'Night Games' from 1981 plus 'All Night Long' and 'Since You Been Gone' originally recorded by Rainbow. Live Sentence is also the perfect showcase for the highly impressive lead guitar talents of Yngwie J Malmsteen. This release includes liner notes from Malcolm Dome based on new interviews with Graham Bonnet.

I wonder if the rest of the band's catalog is going to be re-released. I bought Dangerous Games and Disturbing the Peace and they were terrible! The "remastering" was so tinny and high end it was unlistenable. These were the remasters from a couple of years ago that got awful reviews. Unfortunately, there is so little available from Alcatrazz that I snatched them up real quick.

Graham Bonnet's 1981 solo album Line-Up is next.

That album had a UK Top 10 hit "Night Games" which is on this Alcatrazz live album.

Cozy Powell, Jon Lord and Micky Moody all of Whitesnake played on the album as did Francis Rossi of Status Quo.

"Liar" was a minor hit as well and "That's the Way That it Is" became a hit fir Uriah Heep the following year.

I truly hope Disturbing the Peace and Dangerous Games from Alcatrazz get the treatment too (I mentioned that in the other thread).

You'd think so since the label said this was an extensive set of albums from Graham's career.

What happened with this?

Did it get pulled or go OOP?

It's unavailable and goes for crazy prices.

Do you want the deluxe edition? If not, go for that Alcatrazz box set that recently came out. I'm slowly listening to it and have gotten thru the 1st album. The sound is good and each album has bonus tracks.

FYI, I bought the box set on Amazon UK because it was like $50 cheaper.

US sellers are decent now.......

This Live Sentence remaster did come out and you can see the Cherry Red label on the back cover, but it quickly vanished.

Yngwie always hated it and wanted it pulled-maybe he did some legal moves blocking it.

What is that box set? Looks dodgy and unofficial.

The Cherry Red remaster for No Parole is still available.

No, it's legit. Hear No Evil is the label. The sound is pretty damn good.

Here's an article about it and track list......

I have to agree with my good friend from Minnesota, it has great sound. Will be getting the studio stuff soon.

Wow-never know about it.

So...the issues of No Parole and Live Sentence are simply separate from the box.

Disturbing the Peace (with useless non-related bonus cuts) and Dangerous Games are not separate as of yet, but can be had here along with the bonus discs (although I'm wondering how bad the bootlegs are).

If I can find the box at a reasonable price I'll get it because Cherry Red/Hear No Evil is very legit.

Did Andy Pearce remaster these?

I believe so Pete. I'll check later this evening. Of you and I really like Andy's work.

Bump: Live Sentence has been rescheduled for July 1st. Updated details are in the first post -- it's not yet pre-orderable from Amazon UK, but will be soon.

They're both been scheduled for one week later:
