The first thing I thought of was the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band movie, because that's the only thing I know them from.

"Which Way Is Up" (the title song for the Richard Pryor movie) was their biggest hit, reaching #21 in 1978. It's a real tough one to find on CD, for us Top 40 completists.

It's on the out-of-print Japanese CD of their debut album, which has become a very expensive collectable:

Now that BBR/Cherry Red has begun work on the Stargard catalogue, we might see a new and improved CD of that album in the near future.

I have that Japanese CD, and it's not worth it. There is audible tape damage throughout "Which Way Is Up".

The song, in both the album and single edit versions, sounds much better on other compilation CDs.

This is a good album, but I sure wish that first one was being done.

A good mastering - from a MASTER TAPE - of that instrumental "Wear it Out" mix would make this a definite purchase for me. But I'm not getting excited. BBR can be very hit and miss.
