Need some help, if anyone has any ideas. The issue is that I have just purchased a Samsung Smart TV, which is wireless. I would like to mirror my windows 10 computer to it. The problem is that when I try to project and duplicate my screen to the tv it does not seem to want to connect. After a matter of seconds the TV says screen mirroring has ended. It does not appear to be the TV since I can mirror the screen of a Surface tablet wirelessly, which has windows 8.1. The TV does recognize the computer and the computer recognizes the TV on the network. I have tried Windows forums and Samsung to no avail. If anyone has any ideas thanks in advance.

Is your PC also wirelessly connected?

Hmm, then that's my only idea shot, sorry.

On your computer, check Device Manager and see if the drivers for Display adapters are installed and up-to-date (and not generic).
Also, does your graphics card have an HDMI port out? Try connecting directly to the TV with an HDMI cable to see if that will let you mirror the screen that way. Seeing how this works may help in trouble-shooting the wireless connection, as I suspect the problem might lie in the capabilities of your video card.

What exatly makes a TV "smart"? Call me crazy, but when I see Blu-Ray players for "smart" TVs with the Youtube logo on the box--apparently meaning that people are willing to buy a Blu-Ray player to play online videos that are (a) free to watch, (b) contain content not on Blu-Ray discs, and (c) do not require a Blu-Ray player to watch--I only find myself wondering if these are the same people who watch movies on their phones. Can I buy a "Twitter-compatible" smart TV--or would that first require a "Twitter-compatible" Blu-Ray player and gold HDMI cables?

You can watch Netflix, Hulu, yes YouTube, on your big screen TV in HD. There is literally no comparison to the scenarios you are describing and this technology. "Apparently" people find it quite useful, myself included. Also, I can stream everything in my library to my big basement TV, having ripped my movies to digital. It's pretty great. But I don't have an automatic disdain for anything new like some of you guys.

I have checked the drivers for the display adapter. They are up to date. I have the Intel HD 4400 Graphics card. I do have HDMI, but I won't be able to try that just yet. I do not have one that is long enough. However, I just happen to have a long one coming in a few days, which I actually bought to hook up my blu ray player. I previously had it hooked up with long red, green blue component cables and wanted to go to HDMI.

Screen casting is seldom video driver related, from what I've seen, and more due to wireless network speed/latency issues. That said, I still don't have a solution. Are you wanting to cast movies from your PC? If so you might want to look into Plex media server.

So you were looking at Blu-Ray players, and decided that a rant about smart TV's was somehow relevant? And I was supposed to know that? OK. FYI: the smart TV's "big screen TVs with HD" and you can also watch YouTube videos on them.

As to whether it supports WiDi, I am confused about that. From all I have seen and read on various Samsung and Windows 10 forums at this point I am not sure. I know that the tv and computer recognize one another on the network and that the tv attempts to connect and then the mirroring ends. Many people said that after the upgrade to windows 10 the mirroring no longer worked as it did in windows 8.1.

LOL, at this point I am not even sure how I exactly did it. I did download an Intel driver for the computer and that seemed to do the trick. I also changed the display settings. I appreciate the responses from everyone.
