The waiting is finally over, the Finnish masters of melancholic progressive metal are back! Today, AMORPHIS release their new outstanding piece of music worldwide via Nuclear Blast - "Under The Red Cloud" is out now!

The international press is very impressed, because AMORPHIS have created a unique record for another time:

“Deep, versatile, surprising and goddamn heavy - AMORPHIS deliver a new career peak with crushing guitars, sublime folklore and a sense of cinematic grandeur. Simply sublime!”
METAL HAMMER (D), Björn Springorum

“It is like a synopsis of the beloved AMORPHIS sound with elements of their whole career: death/blackish harshness, refined folkloristic ornaments, progressive passages... yet always melodic and epic. An amazing experience!”
LORDS OF METAL (NL), Vera Mattheijsen

“A stunning album! Probably the best since "Skyforger," which was a high point in AMORPHIS` career. The fact that they chose to return to classics, such as "Tuonela" & "Elegy" is worth appreciating!”
TANGRA MEGA ROCK (BG), Christina Dimitrov

“Really heavy, complex and maybe the best progressive metal album of the year so far!”
METALCRY (ES), Emil Gil Breton

“Absolutely stunning. The best of AMORPHIS old & new combined and boosted to the next level. After a couple of subperfect albums, AMORPHIS are back to show who´s the boss”
STALKER (D), Tina Solda

Track listing:
1. Under the Red Cloud
2. The Four Wise Ones
3. Bad Blood
4. The Skull
5. Death of a King

I have a few Amorphis discs in my collection and have pretty much been lukewarm to this band. This album came out early in September and had received such universal praise (many people saying it's the best metal album released in the last few years) that I decided to give it a chance. I was pretty much blown away by what I heard and definitely think it will be in the running for best album of the year. Wonderful mix of metal and rock with folk and middle east influences splashed in. And catchy songs, almost all of them have pretty addictive hooks. This one is highly recommended...if you like the two videos in the first post this is a much have.

If interested, make sure to get the 12 track version as the last song is one of the best on the album.
