I was shocked to see that Loretta Lynn was booked to play the Strawberry Festival in Plant City next March--a month before her 83rd birthday--but as I've discovered, she's been having a pretty good year. She just received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, she actually has concert dates booked through October of next year, and she's got a whole batch of new studio tracks in the can.

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, has inked an historic multi-album deal with American music legend Loretta Lynn. The new agreement covers several albums of new material, produced by Patsy L Russell and John Carter Cash, recorded over the past seven years at the Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases ... 72721.html

I'm glad to hear there's new music come from Loretta Lynn. I was really hoping, though, there'd be another Loretta Lynn-Jack White collaboration. The White-produced "Van Lear Rose" album is a favorite of mine.

Totally agree Momo. It was in my Top 10 releases back in 2004.

When I was a music journalist in 2004 I was lucky to review Van Lear Rose and liked it a lot.
