This came out of nowhere. I hadn't heard anything about it. I've heard some of the boots of this material. I really like this album. In fact, I would have to say I'd rather play this than Pet Sounds (Sacrilegious, I know!). This may be my most anticipated vault release of the year. Very cool. Looking this over, I wonder if the sessions will be in stereo or mono? Also, I see they are releasing a single LP vinyl version. It has the original track listing, which I assume is without the party overdubs, but I wonder if it will be stereo or mono?

There will be an Amazon exclusive bundle of the 2CD set with a 12"x12" lithograph coming out a week earlier than the general release. Now linked below and in the first post.
But if you're okay with waiting the extra week, and you'd be content with just the regular 2CD set, the price on that has dropped by $5:
The picture also tells us something about the 2CD Standard Edition which comes out a week later, that it will be in a jewel case and sport vintage Capitol labels.

Yeh, I'm not expecting another Pet Sounds Sessions here. Have to say, though, being able to hear these sessions without all of the silly party noises laid on top of them is a very appealing prospect to me.
This also gives me hope that Capitol/Universal will do something similar for George Harrison's All Things Must Pass in the future, and release those sessions without all of the echo and reverb and armies of tambourines.

The sound is terrific and I really like having the recordings in this form. Not sure how often I'll want to play it -- it's still a weird, goofy album -- but I'll probably never play the real Party! album again now that we have this version.

It's a good deal of fun. May not hold up to close listening, but enjoyable to have on in the background with the kiddos. Bring on some more sessions releases!
