OK Toto fans; how you rank in order of the next batch of releases by Rock Candy? I bought all three of the previous and really liked them.

Buying these, I would go in this order;
IV
Isolation
The Seventh One
Fahrenheit

I bought all of these in the Japanese pressings. I bought the first 3 RC releases and then bought the same ones in the Japan pressings. The Japanese versions sounded better than RC's. That's not to say that RC's remasters weren't good. They were. But when I found IV on cdjapan, I sprung for it and was totally taken back on how good it sounded. So, I went with the Japan pressings.

Of course, the Japan discs cost more, so I would go with RC anyway. IV will definitely sound better than the lame release from years ago on CD.... which was really flat-sounding.

These were the ones I mentioned a few months ago but my source had told me Toto IV was up in the air.

So glad it's part of this!

My rankings:
Toto IV
The Seventh One
Isolation
Fahrenheit

The Seventh One is a damn good album with a few clunkers and of course Toto IV is near-perfection.

Isolation and especially Fahrenheit fall prey to a pretty lame 80's sound mixing Dance Rock, Pop and R&B, but there are good songs on each.

I will get all of these as I have none of them on CD and Rock Candy did an excellent job on the first three.

There are no bonus tracks, but the discs are remastered and include expanded booklets.

in THAT case, i'll wait for a few trusted imwan critiques to decide on whether to buy or not.
i'm quite happy with the 2009 of "Fahrenheit," even though it's missing the B-side "In A Word."

Yes, being the only studio non-LP b-side and a fantastic song, "In a Word" should have been added to Fahrenheit, but my gripe with the generally excellent Rock Candy over their releases is despite all the hype about original artwork, newly remastered etc. they never include lyrics, and if they were a part of the original release, they should be included. Few fans are going to read a bio/history of the band and the particular album over and over, and that is something that could be online if you really want to know. Pretty pictures of record labels and 45 picture sleeves are of little importance and again, not something you're going to want to look at over and over, but if a song means something to you and you can't make out what the lyrics are, it's nice to have them with the CD so you have them wherever you are. Online lyrics sites are notoriously inaccurate and not particularly helpful if you're playing the CD in the car or another room in your home etc.

There are a number of labels guilty of this — Universal springs to mind with a lot of their deluxe reissues, including the last time their revamped the entire Moody Blues catalog — but there are labels that include lyrics if they were part of the original releases. Rock Candy should get on board with this. I'd gladly pay an extra buck to cover what I'm sure their excuse would be, rather than to have to hang on to two copies of every CD I repurchase that lacks what the previous versions included.

"In a Word" is on Toto XX already, but I agree.

Same with "The Seventh One" which did not appear on that album but was a b-side.

That song did not appear on Toto XX.

You're right, I forgot about the song "The Seventh One" which actually isn't on the album of that name! Fortunately, it was on a 3" CD single which I was able to obtain at the time it came out but is pretty scarce now.

it would be nice to have related recordings remastered and placed within their respective recording sessions.
my 45rmp copy of "The Seventh One" is proof that the song needs a permanent digital home.

Checked the "Rock Candy" website and they mention the Montrose titles will be delayed therefore the move up on the Toto titles.

So when Rock Candy opens them up for purchase I will go with the recommendations from you guys.

It will be with IP's selection (he does know his Toto) "Toto IV" & "The Seventh One".

Thanks all for your help!

Did you ever get the MoFi gold disc of IV? I bought it only because it was in a cutout bin for $15 bucks when the original Mobile Fidelity went out of business. Was curious as to how the Rock Candy might compare against it, is all.

Ha! Yeah, I forgot when they reissued the whole catalog in mini-LP covers in 2005 in Japan, they did add the non-album song "The Seventh One" to the CD of the same name and I do actually have that version. Of course, it begs the question given they added that bonus track why they didn't also add "In a Word" to Fahrenheit. One other little-known obscurity is the great galloping instrumental song "Moodido (The Match)," from the insanely rare Japanese-only Olympics album The Official Music of the XXIIIrd Olympiad Los Angeles 1984. It can be yours right now from a dealer on ebay for ... $425. But hey, it has free shipping :giggle:. I see it elsewhere for $450. It also appeared on an equally rare 1990 Dutch 3" CD single with "Out of Love (edit)" from the Past To Present 1977-1990 collection but has never made an appearance on an actual Toto CD.

Well.... you can get that song on here. I have this compilation (bought it when it came out in 2002).

Interesting! There have been SO many comps and re-re-repackagings and 'best ofs' in so many countries, this one slipped under my radar, and aside from being the only actual Toto album to contain "Moodido (The Match)," it also has arguably the only two worthy Dune tracks as well. By the way, avoid the private dealers selling this for ridiculously high prices on US Amazon. On the UK and German sites, you can pick this up for less than $10 plus shipping.
