Where does IMWAN stand on Bill Murray's current work? Is he better than ever, or is he not as good as he used to be?

What do you think was his best era?

What is his finest work to date?

I haven't seen anything that he's done for years.

I thought he was pretty hot or miss, mostly miss on SNL, but that he found some lightning, which
he road quite well in his early movies Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Ground Hog's Day, ….
(I watched a little Ghostbusters a couple weeks ago, and went… "meh.")

Then I think that kind of played itself out, but, from what I've heard, he's done a pretty good job
in the last decade or so doing more serious work.

I pretty much concur with what the brother said. Good in smaller doses - haven't really seen his more recent, more serious roles.

I think stuff like Stripes was where he hit his stride from my viewpoint. Caddyshack, Stripes, everything up to and including Ghostbusters was decent, if patchy. Then he kind of has this weird dry spell with things like Scrooged and Quick Change....he just went off the boil, IMO.

I'd say Groundhog Day was the epitome of his work for me. I haven't seen Lost In Translation or The Life Aquatic or anything else that he's done in years, though.

I'm a fake Bill Murray fan. :)

He gave an Oscar-worthy supporting performance in a wonderful little movie called Get Low, which starred Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek.

St. Vincent was really good. It was not a normal movie that I would like, but it was quite well done.

I was a little too young for what many consider his heyday, with Stripes, Caddyshack, and the like. I love Ground Hog Day, Scrooged, What About Bob, but mostly I can take him or leave him.

I recently re-watched Ghostbusrers and liked him just fine in it...so no 'meh' for me. Groundhog Day is my favorite.

I have seen nothing he has done recently. I didn't even know he was still active.

I love some of his more recent work. I would say he has evolved that he isn't the same as his early 80s or even late 80s/early 90s fare. I really appreciate the Bill Murray he has come to be with such films as his work with Wes Anderson beginning with Rushmore.

Groundhog Day is indeed a darn decent film. Then it might just be the idea of it that has more appeal to me.

Hey, I liked Scrooged. Not sure I've given much after those a fair viewing to know for sure.

Tootsie was one of his better ones, imo, even though he wasn't the star. For starring roles, Quick Change, What About Bob? and Groundhog's Day. Ghostbusters annoys me because of Venkman's shock therapy at the beginning of the movie. What a dick.

I don't think I've seen him in a theatrical movie since Zombieland, however long ago that was. He was a guest on one of the last episodes of Letterman----maybe even the last one---and I thought he was funny as ever, even though he often seems like he's depressed or something nowadays.

I very much enjoyed Lost in Translation and his work with Wes Anderson. Their oddness syncs somehow.

I have not seen Get Low. Need to.

Groundhog Day is my favorite of the old ones, with GB not far behind. He is a dick. Totally.

I think he's just gotten better and better I really liked him in St. Vincent, and his new one, Rock the Kasbah, looks to be really good as well.

I saw Saint Vincent this weekend on cable and thought it was pretty good. Groundhog Day is my favorite but I actually like a lot of his newer stuff better than his earlier work.

Yesterday was Bill Murray's birthday.

And here is a great article on the greatness of Quick Change.
