Here's to hoping they'll include ALL their # 1's across all the UK(4) and US(3) charts (i.e., plus Please Please Me, Strawberry FF, Twist & Shout, Nowhere Man, For You Blue), and they throw in other significant videos like Rain. Think positive thoughts...

I hope this is real (unlike previous reports of Let It Be, etc.), live George from 1974, etc.

This might be interesting, although didn't the Beatles already release a video anthology of vintage films and performances? Something tells me that, like the original "1" compilation, this is not intended for the hardcore collector, but for impulse purchase by casual fans as a stocking stuffer.

Has any new footage surfaced in the past twenty years? (Joe Garagiola interviewing John and Paul on "The Tonight Show"?)

Is this going to be exclusively a 60's version of MTV style videos, or do we know yet? (As an example, will it include the LIB rooftop show, TV appearances that weren't lip synched, etc)?

The deluxe editions (DVD and Blu-ray) are both starting out at $59.98. Pretty reasonable.

And I think we can pretty much count on multiple price changes between now and November 6. Both the other DVD/Blu-ray sets (single video disc and single video+CD) currently have a lower price for the DVD option than for the Blu-ray. I imagine this will eventually apply to the Deluxe sets as well - although whether the Blu-ray increases or the DVD decreases is anybody's guess.

Somewhat lost in all the discussion of the video content, there's also the assertion that we're going to be the beneficiary of "fantastic new stereo and 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS HD surround audio mixes by Giles Martin and Sam Okell at Abbey Road Studios".

This is potentially huge news, in and of itself. Is there any more info on what was done here?

Audio Bit rate? Hopefully hr ORIGINAL 2.0 on the blu.

Funny how things have changed. We all pitched a fit about the remixes on the 1st gen Beatles cd's, & now they're calling remixes a benefit?

I''m trying to remember--did the Beatles actually film promo videos for earlier songs like "Love Me Do", or will these be hybrid montages?

I'm also curious about the stuff on the limited edition bonus discs--two versions of "Day Tripper" "Rain" and "Hello Goodbye". Live Versions? Maybe from the Budokan video?

(Also--wasn't "The Beatles In Mono" originally announced as a "limited edition"?)

Finally, will there be any difference between the single-disc version to be released in November and the single-disc version (2009 remasters, reissued in a digipack) that came out at some point since 2009?

No, the earliest releases (1962, 1963, 1964 and even early 1965) were in the days when the concept of a promo video did not even exist. Here are the sources for the first eleven songs:
1. LOVE ME DO - Newly edited clip, featuring material from BBC TV’s The Mersey Sound, with performance footage filmed on 27 August 1963 at the Little Theatre, Southport.
2. FROM ME TO YOU - A live performance at the 1963 Royal Variety Show, filmed at The Prince Of Wales Theatre, London, on 4 November 1963.
3. SHE LOVES YOU - A live performance from the Swedish Television show Drop In, recorded on 30 October 1963 during a short Scandinavian tour.
4. I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND - From the Granada TV programme Late Scene Extra filmed on 25 November 1963.
5. CAN’T BUY ME LOVE - First broadcast in the TV show Around The Beatles, filmed on 28 April 1964 and broadcast the following month. It features a different audio track to that of hit single, recorded by The Beatles on 19 April 1964.
6. A HARD DAY’S NIGHT - Live performance at the Palais des Sports, Paris on 20 June 1965, while on a short European tour.
7. I FEEL FINE - Filmed at Twickenham Film Studios on 23 November 1965. One of ten films shot that day to satisfy global TV demand for broadcast material to accompany The Beatles’ hit records.
8. EIGHT DAYS A WEEK - A brand new clip edited from material filmed at the Shea Stadium concert in New York City on 15 August 1965, during which the band performed twelve songs, but ‘Eight Days A Week’ was not among them. The clip says so much about the band’s frenetic lifestyle in 1965, at the height of Beatlemania.
9. TICKET TO RIDE - Filmed at Twickenham Film Studios on 23 November 1965.
10. HELP! - The less frequently seen clip of those filmed at Twickenham Film Studios on 23 November 1965.
11. YESTERDAY - Paul performing on The Ed Sullivan Show, videotaped in New York City on 14 August 1965 and broadcast the following month, the day before the single was released in America.

As you can see, only I FEEL FINE, TICKET TO RIDE and HELP! were purpose-made videos. As for your last question, the CD supposedly "features brand new [2015] stereo mixes by Giles Martin and Sam Okell", so you'll want to keep your 2009 version too.

There is zero chance that I will not love this.

5.1 DTS HD on Blu? I'm in on this just for the audio. Maybe a 50th Anniversary 5.1 BD release of SPLHCB is in the works.

I'm a little torn since I don't need the CD version but want the Blu Ray. Should I just get the stand alone Blu or is it really necessary for the 2 Blu + CD version (I know it has a pretty book).
