Has there been any information regarding remasters of the remaining Monkees CD's...deluxe or standard? I thought I read somewhere that Rhino Handmade may be doing these but I can't find info anywhere. Thanks.

Pretty much everything I know about any possible forthcoming Monkees reissues from Rhino I learned from this thread:
http://www.imwan.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... ht=monkees
I have seen unconfirmed rumors elsewhere that the deluxe editions of "The Monkees" and "More Of The Monkees" sold extremely poorly (what does one have to do to access Soundscan stats, anyway?) and as a result other Monkees reissues may not be forthcoming...?

The usually gregarious Andrew Sandoval, who wrote the liner notes for the deluxe reissues and is a regular on the Hoffman site, has been very tightlipped about the next batch of reissues. If we see them at all, it will likely be through Rhino Handmade, but who knows when?

Though there has been debate over there concerning just how concrete the June date is supposed to be for the next two, I have the feeling it isn't totally set in stone. We're just going to have to wait and see. I find it stressful in that the Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd album deserves to have some kind of Deluxe 2-Disc set treatment given to it. Speaking from an entirely subjective viewpoint on my part, I am of the belief that it is one of the great underrated works of the entire '60s.
I don't want to derail the thread into a political discussion, but given the current situation in the world, I'm awfully surprised that nobody has decided to do a cover of the great song "The Door Into Summer" from the album. The lyrics can definitely apply to a certain situation.

Guaranteed he is under a gag-order by Rhino or else he would have posted some info on SH.tv.
I for one am going to be patient - his work on the Everly's boxes and Monkees reissues has been first class and i am willing to wait for more of the same.

I'm sitting here listening to Rhino's deluxe edition of "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd." and realizing that it was released ten months ago...and in surfing the web, including both amazon.com and rhino.com, there is no indication if any deluxe version of "The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees" or "Head" will ever be forthcoming...very depressing. Of course, in the meantime, Rhino has managed to barf up yet another best-of Monkees compilation for Walmart shoppers.
In other Monkees news, the going rate for a silver copy of the "Headquarters Sessions" set is now apparently above the $300 mark.

It would seem to me that they've mined the catalog of all the prime stuff. The post-Pisces albums represent the commercial decline of The Monkees and from what I understand, the deluxe editions didn't sell as well as Rhino hoped.
I hope for the sake of Monkee fanatics, though, that they finish out the rest of the catalogue in the deluxe format. They are great sets.

This isn't an update on the Monkees catalog being updated, but rather, something I noticed yesterday.
I was at Newbury Comics and noticed that Rhino had quietly reissued the Monkees' albums on single CDs with no bonus tracks. The packaging looks similar to the '90s reissues, but the copyright date is 2011.

There is on Amazon UK a Monkee 5 album classics box set too. Too bad the bean counters seem to have called of the reminder of the Deluxe Editions.

There are three-disc deluxe editions of "The Birds, the Bees and the Monkees", "Head", and "Instant Replay" available from Rhino Handmade. Unfortunately they are not of uniform size to the deluxe editions of the first four releases, but they are very nice sets. Pretty exhaustive, full of alternate and mono mixes and alternate takes.
