They've greenlighted a Jack Reacher sequel, obviously starring Tom Cruise. Supposed to come out in late 2016.

I really enjoyed the first one, thought it overachieved. I've read a good many of the books in this series, and something draws me back to it. I think it's because it reminds me of the pulpier series novels of the 70's like Mack Bolan and Destroyer ( Remo Williams).

The blu-ray for the first movie is a good one -- lots of extras and a great commentary track with Cruise and the director together.

I intend to go to the theater and watch this movie. If unable to do so, I will purchase it in an appropriate format some time later.

Same writer/director as Mission Impossible 5, yes? McQuarrie?

Yup. He couldn't do the second Jack Reacher because he was tied finishing MI:5, so Cruise went with The Last Samurai director Ed Zwick.

Yes, and he also wrote the screenplay for Jack Reacher One. He's good on the commentary track with Cruise.

The first Jack Reacher was pretty good. Tom Cruise has a pretty solid action movie track record... it may actually be the best track record ever.

If Antoine Fuqua made a movie with Tom Cruise, there would be a rip in the fabric of space time it would be so good.

That fight scene in the bathroom is one of the all time greats. Naturalistic, while still managing to be choreographed like a Jackie Chan fight. Really impressive.

I read they were teaming up to do a Six Million Dollar Man movie, with Gwenyth Paltrow as the Bionic Woman.

Yes, when I wrote "writer," there was an implicit "of the screenplay" embedded there.

You're right, it's just the ambiguity I was clearing up was because he also wrote MI:5. So your reference could have been only labeling him as writer/director of MI:5. My antecedent reference only said "director." So I wanted to make sure it was clear to all that he was writer/director of both. Not just director of one, and writer/director of the other.

I'm still smarting from the "Stan Lee, Jack Kirby" incident so I wanted to tread lightly.

Someone off-handedly referred to Stan Lee as a "writer" and Hanzo keyed his car.

Hector, I ranked Kirby as #2 in my favorite writers list and Stan Lee as #3.

But I don't care what intimidation Hanzo tries, McQuarry wrote the screenplay for Jack Reacher.

Did you key someone's car for this?
