Here's a poll roughly broken down into Todd's different creative incarnations through the years. It's okay to love everything, but pick a favourite.

Either the Nazz or the Runt era. I only really listen to him up through the Todd album.

Kinda tough for me, I only like 2 albums (& the We Got To get You A Woman Single):
Something/Anything & the Utopia debut.
I've tried to get into a number of the others, but while none of it is bad, nothing else has really clicked for me either.

Todd's solo career in the 70's and 80's truly has something for everyone. For that matter, Something/Anything alone has something for everyone.

I love his 70's solo stuff ("Runt" through "Initiation"), "Acapella" from the mid-80's, and the first 2 Utopia albums. I like some Nazz, especially the stuff that sounds like his solo work.

Jimbo wrote: Prog Utopia. I like Jimbo voted Prog especially because of "RA". I received the Esoteric At The BBC 1972-1982 box yesterday. Highly recommended by the way. Fantastic, he's so good in any phase of career but watching the DVD of a film of Todd Rundgren & Utopia at the Bearsville Picnic in 1977 (performing 'Singring and the Glass Guitar') out did Spinal Tap for the best over the top performance I ever saw. I say this with affection and love. What musicians Utopia were. Rick A.

Utopia in the 70's, without a doubt.

Hard to say, but I'm sure I'll be reviewing it all after next week's show in Richmond, VA.

If it's still the "Global" tour, you won't get much catalog material - and it's all redone in the electronic style of the new album.

I live on fm set list, always like to know what's coming up and if they are playing a favorite.

Some overlap for me. Seem him about 9 times. I dig all the 70's solo stuff, but really only Healing in the 80's and on, with the exception of TR-I which I still check out quite often. I have it all but don't listen to much. Also got on stage with him on the TR-I show in Dallas. I prefer the Todd, Kasim, Roger, Willie lineup of Utopia with Ra, Oops and Adventures taking top honor there. Others were kinda hit and miss for me but Mated and If I Didn't Try are just stellar tunes.

I had heard the new album and liked a few songs on it, but overall this was not what I expected or wanted to see. He played guitar on maybe 5-6 songs and attempted dance/hip hop moves. I admire his adventurous musical spirit, but to see a very worn out-looking paunchy old guy dancing around like that? I was embarrassed FOR him. The looks on people's faces - ouch!

He always divides up tours either by album tours or regular song/hits tours (which some venues prefer). His Todd tour date website distinguishes what type of show he's going to play http://trconnection.com/tourLook at this page the next time he comes to your area. He is really good when in a regular song/band setup.
