Many roads have been travelled since the time Michael Sadler would drop by Jim Crichton s house to write songs in between shifts as a Toronto cab driver.
Thirty years on from those formative afternoons, SAGA has toured the globe, won many awards and has sold well over 8 million albums worldwide.

It is about time for an all-embracing collection of SAGA s incredible music treasures. `Best Of Now & Then The Collection combines 21 progressive
anthems one song from each of the band s 21 studio albums and thus is the first SAGA collection to range from 1987 to infinity. Neither Top 30 hits like On The Loose nor the phenomenal You re Not Alone are missing from this up to date compilation which is rounded off with current, soon to be classics
like Anywhere You Wanna Go and I ll Be .

The selection of SAGA s best and most representative songs demonstrates the timelessness of the band s accomplishments for progressive rock. Simply put, 37 years of great, honest music. This autumn sees the beginning of SAGA reissues including re-worked artwoks, high quality packaging and exclusive bonus materials.

A few bands have combined hard rock, progressive rock and pop with the elegance and style of Canadian s SAGA. Their sound fuses: prominent guitar riffs, often in harmony with a synthesizer, and complex keyboard arrangements.

Since SAGA s foundation in 1977, the band has toured the globe various times, won many awards and has sold over 8 million albums worldwide.

Their self-titled debut album became a solid success in Canada, yet went big in Germany and with hits like How Long? , Humble Stance and The
Perfectionist , they got noticed all over the world for their original mix of progressive rock, pop and classic rock. Gaining more fame throughout the years, thanks to great songwriting and musicianship, they broke into the Canadian Top 40 with the singles Wind Him Up and On The Loose (peaking at #26 on the American Billboard Charts) in 1983 though these songs origin from the 1981 album Worlds Apart . With their 5th studio album Heads Or Tales
(1983), they skyrocketed with the lead single The Flyer , peaking at #79 in the US Billboard Charts, following with Scratching The Surface as a second hit single from the album. With this album they became one of the big names for fans of bands like Rush or YES as well as for all classic rock fans as their popularity in Europe grows album after album.

In 2008, Sadler left the band being replaced by the excellent voice of Rob Moratti, who toured, recorded and in 2009 released one studio album, The Human Condition . With Moratti on vocals, SAGA has successfully toured all over Europe during 2009 and 2012 and have announced the return of Michael Sadler.

Selling an impressive 8 million albums to date, they continue to surprise their fans when they released their 20th studio album 20/20 with Michael Sadler on lead vocals. The album charted on #13 in Germany as well as in the Swedish Top 40 not a coincidence at all as the album surely is on its way to become a progressive rock classic. The follow-up Sagacity (2014) kept the band s characteristic sound alive while adding a modern touch to their music and made it to
Germany s top 20.

Welcome to SAGA 2015!

Interesting comp spanning every album in this wonderful band's career.

Similar to last year's KISS 2 CD comp in that only one song from each album appears.

This is supposedly kicking off a revamping of the catalog which had been done before by SPV but not all that well IMO.

I believe this is in better hands now.

This band keeps getting better and better and if you've ever been curious this is an excellent way to delve into one of Prog's and Hard Rock's greatest bands.

Ah, so that explains why "Wind Him Up", "The Flyer", and "What Do I Know" do not appear here.

Total time is 108:55, btw. :)

And all 3 of the songs you mentioned were hits and belong on this comp!

But alas, they were sticking to the 1 song 1 album format.
