In the days of vinyl there was a myth that Side 2 was weaker and that the last song was usually just a song the band didn't think much of, or was a stinker.
None of this was ever true.
I listened to two vintage albums today and both had legendary songs as the final track.
Robert Plant-The Principle of Moments-"Big Log"
Rolling Stones-Tattoo You-"Waiting on a Friend"
I'm too tired now, but any others spring to mind, particularly albums from the 60's-80's during vinyl's heyday?

Get Back is the last song on the Beatles' Let It Be album.
Gold Dust Woman is the last song on Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album.
Rock and Roll All Nite by Kiss is the last song on Dressed To Kill.
Are You Experienced is the last song on Jimi's album of the same title.
Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution is the last song on AC/DC's Back In Black album.
For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) was the final song on AC/DC's Who Made Who?

I reckon this myth has already been proven false with the examples given so far.

"Murder by Numbers" on Synchronicity by The Police. "Damage, Inc." on Master of Puppets by Metallica.
Also, "All Mixed Up" by The Cars from their eponymous debut. I don't know how popular this song is amongst Cars fans but this follows the more popular "Moving in Stereo" which sounds incomplete to me without "All Mixed Up".

I dunno....was Shattered a classic, though? It's not the greatest Stones song of all time, really.

If I recall, "Murder By Numbers" was not on the album proper but just the cassette?

Led Zeppelin-"How Many More Times" from the debut album Led Zeppelin-"Bring it on Home" from led Zep II Led Zeppelin-"When the Levee Breaks" from Led Zep IV Led Zeppelin-"The Ocean" from Houses of the Holy Led Zeppelin-"Sick Again" from Physical Graffiti
I'd like to include all the others but they aren't regarded as classics, but these sure are.

It's a stone-cold classic and in my Top 10 fave Stones tunes. Thus, Jimbo wins.
