I guess a part of me hoped that someday Chris and Jon would bury the hatchet and maybe there would be one final Yes tour with the classic lineup.
Sadly, that will never be.
I imagine that because the tour had been booked with Billy Sherwood filling in that it will happen anyway. I guess it will be a tribute tour because of Squire's passing, but after this, Yes should just end it.

No Squire = No Yes for me.
I could see them trying to get Jon, and maybe Rick Wakeman, back for one big final tour.

has yes ever done a song live that was not on an album of theirs......a cover tune.....introduce a "new" song.....something, anything other than same stuff over and over and over again?

First off, why wouldn't they play their own material?
Is that a bad thing? I don't quite follow.
I've seen them 21 times and although many tunes have been played often, I have seen them do songs from all 20 studio albums.
But I have also seen them do "Purple Haze", "Gimme Some Lovin'", and The Beatles' "Every Little Thing" (also on their debut album).

Agree that without Squire, it wont be Yes but i woukd see this final tour except the date is in Brooklyn and logistically tough for me in the summer time.

On the "Drama" tour they did a couple of songs that didn't make it onto the Drama album. I believe they later appeared on a live box set ("The Word Is Live") and one of them was reworked years later as the title track for their CD "Fly From Here".

I think if they continue at this point, Yes will take on sort of an "Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe" kind of sound. That is, it would still have an identifiable Yes sound but...close but no cigar.
And since they have been releasing all kinds of live CD's lately, I wonder if they will do another one from this tour with Billy Sherwood.

I could get behind something like that, but that would be it. Maybe they could induce Brufy out of retirement for one last blow out.

then they should put those tunes on the live albums to give their fans something different to have by them to listen to instead of putting out umpteen million live albums with the same songs on them every time.
that's all i'm saying, something a little different....please.
and no i have not bought a live yes album in a long long time, i bought 'yessongs" and then the next 2 live albums i also bought, and all 3 of those albums were basically the same, they even were produced and mastered the same, clones of each other for the most part.
and i do understand that yes fans like their live albums and obviously continue to buy them or they wouldn't keep putting them out.
it is just my own opinion that they have very much overdone it, please don't take it sop personally, it was nothing against you.
however, as they say, enough is enough....now that chris squire is gone and jon anderson wants nothing to do with it anymore it's time to let it go.
