Description
Two-time Grammy winner Rickie Lee Jones exploded onto the pop scene with her groundbreaking self-titled debut and has fearlessly experimented with her sound and persona over 15 critically acclaimed albums.

Her latest, The Other Side of Desire was written, recorded and rooted in the city of New Orleans, where Jones lives on the opposite side of the street made famous by Tennessee Williams. Produced by John Porter (of Roxy Music) and Mark Howard, this is the first new music Jones has written in over a decade.

'This work is inspired by many years of sitting with all the events of my life until I had something to paint with,' says Rickie. 'I came to New Orleans to write and to live a different way than what I have known on the west coast... Here is another record then, made of my imagination, and whatever else that has no words, using the clay of this place and the shapes of my eyes to form some kind of picture of my life, or my heart, that I alone can understand, and hopefully that others can enjoy.'

February 26
finishing up the record now. just a couple weeks to go. It could easily be done at the end of the month. WILL it be done, mixed? up to the producer. but in a month I think I will be able to post a song. April anyway. finally. oh boy. some titles of mostly finished recordings are...Infinity. Christmas in New Orleans. Juliette. Jimmy Choos. and ... Haunted.

March 10
Yesterday was my last day of recording... I put guitar, banjo, voice on 'charlottes web' the tentative title. its an instrumental i wrote a poem about a spider ... anyway.. thats done. And put horns ( thanks to Ed Bloom for driving in from Florida) and new vocals on On the Mend. Its a real song now. Im happy, its a great record, and I stop now with peace.

March 11
it's official. I have chosen an image by David McClister for my new cd. He shot with natural light, we got a lot of beautiful, interesting shots. The title of the record - The Other Side of Desire- is lit up by the images. I hope we can use a lot of them over the next year.

hey folks, my new record The Other Side of Desire will be released June 23rd. Hope all of my Facebook fans buys the new record the first month! It will be available on cd and lp.., and probably downloads.. though I hope you get the cd or album first.. it's meant to be heard as a whole piece of music.

The Other Side Of Desire is out today. I listened to it last week when it was streaming on the WSJ site. I purchased it from Amazon and my copy should be coming today. It's really good. I wanted to point out, also, that Amazon now has it for 7.99. It's a great price for a really good new album.

great! always good to know that as a fan who pre-paid/pledged in advance money to help realize the project,
i not only paid about twice the price ($15.00), but i also have yet to see my copy in the mail.
no good deed goes unpunished! ain't that the truth.

This is very good.

It really is a return to form for Rickie Lee Jones. I personally put it up there with her best works. It is classic RLJ and at the same time it feels like an artistic leap forward.
