The Oscar-winning composer of Titanic died in a plane crash in Santa Barbara the other day. He will definitely be missed. One of the other threads I started is devoted to one of his other music scores, The Rocketeer, so I'll post another example of his great work here:

He was never as big as John Williams, but his music scores helped make the movies he wrote for seem better than they actually were, and the best example of that is probably The Rocketeer, although many others would add Field of Dreams and Titanic, too. Funny thing about Titanic is that when you listen to the music on a CD or MP3 player by itself, it doesn't seem that great but it's a different story when you hear it while watching James Cameron's visuals. That is a rare exception. It says a lot about James Horner's music that everybody has usually heard it even if they haven't seen the movies for which the music was originally written.
