Description
Digitally remastered edition of this 1972 album. This self-titled release was the second album by this configuration of the Jeff Beck Group and was produced by Steve Cropper of Booker T and the MGs fame. The album features a continuation of the group's emphasis on compositions that move in a jazzier, more R&B direction. The centerpiece of the album, `Goin' Down' could easily have been recorded by the first edition of the Beck group and it received heavy FM radio airplay in major US markets. The song has frequently been featured as part of Jeff's live presentation. Other standout tracks included were the sublime instrumental `Definitely Maybe', which hinted strongly at Jeff's future direction, and a soulful reading of Dylan's `Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You'. Remastered by Vic Anesini at Battery Studios and including a new essay this album returns to the US marketplace after a lengthy absence.

Tracklist
1. Ice Cream Cakes
2. Glad All Over
3. Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You
4. Sugar Cane
5. I Can't Give Back The Love I Feel For You
6. Going Down
7. I Got To Have A Song
8. Highways
9. Definitely Maybe

I'd like to see them finish the Capitol Tubes series (with the rest of the bonus tracks!)

With Vic Anesini doing these albums, and seeing as he always does the Complete Albums box sets for Legacy, wouldn't it make sense to finally have a Jeff Beck complete box with Anesini's remasters from the past and now?

I'm hesitant to get these new ones fearing that is exactly what will happen.

Anything's possible, but the fact that the material has been licensed to Iconoclassic makes it unlikely that we'll see a Complete Albums box of these remasters in the near future.

Such a great record! I Can't Give Back The Love I Feel For You, Going Down, and Definitely Maybe are stand-outs in an all brilliant song line up. I don't remember who the vocalist was for the tour but one of my favorite concert moments was seeing/hearing Jeff sing the lead vocal on Going Down in a (sometime in the) 1980s show in Denver. I bought two albums on my first day of college -- Jeff Beck Group and Ian Matthews's Some Days You Eat The Bear And Some Days The Bear Eats You.

Interesting: the same album is now scheduled for release as an SACD (with different remastering) by the Audio Fidelity label on July 24th:

Which do we get? Or do we get both?

As much as I love Vic A. work I will take the SACD.

Bump: Added the cover image and tracklist for the Iconoclassic edition to the first post.

When something like this happens how do we know what came from the master tapes and what came from a copy?

Why would CBS licence an album to multiple labels?

This happens often.

Who is telling the truth?

I am confused.

We don't know, because they often lie to us (including the hi-res stuff I like).

Remember the 3 or 4 different Simon & Garfunkel boxes? Each time they said it was sourced from the OMT's. The when the next one came out, they said" We made a mistake! The last box was sourced from lower gen safeties. But this one is the real deal. And as we learned they were lying again..........
