Looks like all the classic non Burdon albums up through Platinum Jazz are being reissued, $8 on preorder.

Really loved the reissue of "The World is a Ghetto" and would love to see the rest of the reissues match that standard of quality.

You're referring to the 40th Anniversary Expanded Edition of Ghetto from three years ago:

That was done by the same label, Avenue Records, but these new ones are supposedly all straight reissues of the original albums with no bonus tracks. (All are newly remastered by Avenue, however.)

I've added pre-order links to Z phage's opening post -- the first two albums with Eric Burdon are actually included in this series, after all.

They've left out my favorite War/Burdon album - the odds n' sods collection LOVE IS ALL AROUND. It did come out 5 or 6 years ago, though. Happy I grabbed it then! I bought the original vinyl for 29 cents in the early 80s.

I preordered Why Can't We Be Friends, and it came with an instant download. Is it safe to assume that this wasn't the remastered version?

So far today I've bought WCWBF and The World Is A Ghetto. For all you Warheads (sorry, I couldn't resist), what should I get next?

Yes. You received the digital version of the previous pressing, not remastered by Avenue.

Not a War expert (so don't listen to me), but I do think that everyWAN should have the Eric Burdon & War collaborations in their collections.

I may need to beef up my War section with two or three of these. They were an exellent band that deserved even more success than they had.

The s/t, All Day Music, Galaxy, and Outlaw will complete my collection. Happy to see these reissued!

As a side note, for those who may not know, the current touring version of WAR includes but one original member, while the LOW RIDER BAND actually includes four.

The one with the rights to the name WAR gets the bigger gigs and venues, but the LOW RIDER BAND is more legit, say the hardcore WAR fans.

DanO is correct.

The Low Rider Band is the real deal not the bogus band using the WAR name.

I had an extensive interview with Harold E. Scott for my book (another underrated guitar great which is what my nook is about) which was fascinating-especially when I asked him about being the last act to ever play with Jimi Hendrix.

What he told me was chilling and I'm not sure if he's ever told anyone (he may have, but even if he has it was still a great hour we spent together).

He also told me a lot of the legal details about what happened with the band name but I didn't print much of it because of legal reasons.
