Description
A Flock Of Seagulls combined a striking image with memorable, synthesiser-based music. In Britain their biggest and best remembered hit ‘Wishing (I Had A Photograph Of You)’ hit the Top Ten in late 1982, some months after their single ‘I Ran (So Far Away)’ was a similar hit in the USA. Both hits feature on this comprehensive 36 track collection along with all the singles, classic album tracks, and extended versions.

This is a very solid collection. It covers the entire debut (a new wave classic), along with most of the second and third albums. Also includes several excellent b-sides, and three extended versions (I would have swapped out the two songs from the fourth album for Tokyo and Quicksand). This is excellent for those that want to know more than the hits, but never picked up the albums.

They recorded some extraordinary singles, prime 80s new wave. I have a couple other comps, but this is comprehensive.

I don't know, I think just getting the first 3 albums is a good bet. I'm not a fan of best of's though.

This is a really good collection.

But I agree, those first 3 albums (all remastered w bonus tracks) is the way to go.

And, Paul Reynolds is a criminally underrated guitarist-absolutely one of the most inventive players of the 80's.

Totally agree with you IP, especially about Paul Reynolds. He was such a young kid when the Flock got him into the band and to me he was their secret weapon.

Wow, what that guy can do with the atmospherics and then his chord sequences. Seen the Flock live twice and they were great live as in studio.

Are these the original recordings? I recall there being a comp with rerecorded versions.

They are JoeBase and there are some killer B-sides and mixes which are extremely hard to get. And the 2 cd set is chock-full.
