Description
The first installment in a new archival series celebrating Jerry Garcia's magical 13 night run on Broadway. On Broadway: Act One presents three complete, previously unreleased sets from the October 28th, 1987 performances at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in NYC: the early and late Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band sets and the Jerry Garcia Band's electric evening set. Highlights are many, but include I Ain't Never, Bright Morning Stars, Run For The Roses and Bob Dylan's Tangled Up In Blue.

I have to say that I am unimpressed with the sound quality of the Pure Jerry release of the 10/31/87 show as well as the compilation "Best Of The Rest". It sounds like an audience recording, and I have heard better audies. It's a pity because these were some of the best played Jerry shows ever. I had the pleasure of going to several of them including the Halloween show. Bill Graham was standing out front greeting the fans dressed as a Zombie.

Based on the stream (a very unreliable source for sound quality), my guess it's a sound board with a TON of ambiance microphone mixed in. I.E. dreadful mix. It's possible it's an audie, but I don't think so.

Anyone have a list of band members?

David Kemper was a member of focus for a short time and went onto become Bob Dylan's never ending tour drummer after the Garcia Band.

As much as I am a near completeist of all dead and jerry (I think infrared rose and the first 90s box set and one of the pure jerry are the only gaps) I have felt the jerry vault release series of late to be missed opportunities. I love the almost acoustic band...but I am not biting. I feel the band has been represented well enough...and with the sound issues...just does not excite me at all. My big fear is when I see vol 1 in title. Please don't make this the next half assed series.
But there is hope for me on that front...the existing side trips series had stopped after volume 1.
That I would like to see come back.
Forgive me Jerry...but I will be dancing to your spirit in Chicago over the fourth.
