[2015-09-04] The Doors "Other Voices/Full Circle" 2CD remaster with bonus track (Elektra/Rhino/Warner)

Description
The Full Circle CD will include a rare bonus track, Treetrunk, which was the B-side to the 1972 'Get Up And Dance' single. The track has only been previously available on the original 7" single, and the CD singles boxset our friends at Warner Music Japan released in 2013.

These have acquired a somewhat exaggerated reputation due to there scarcity. For those who never heard them, imo they're not very good.

I'd say "Other Voices" is the better of the two, but that's not saying much. If I remember correctly, the band members wrote some of that material when Morrison was still alive, with the intention of having him sing on it...or maybe not. Either way, I doubt his presence would have done anything to save this stinker.

Thanks for the heads up, Linda! Yeah, these aren't the cream of the crop, but I grew up hearing Tightrope Ride, Get Up And Dance, The Mosquito, and The Piano Bird on local Top 40 radio, so they're in my psyche. And in that context, they work just fine. There's just something about listening to obscure records late at night on a Top 40 countdown that burns into your mind, ha. Bought these as cut out LP's, though never got around to getting the Tree Trunk 45, so isle bee inn...

I guess they ran out of ways to repackage Doors compilations.

For a completist, it's great that these will be back in print.

As music, they are both pretty awful -- I revisit them once per decade, always thinking, "I like the Doors, how bad can these be?" Then I remember.

I remember picking up a vinyl copy of "Full Circle" the same day as that live bootleg box set "Boot Yer Butt". Talk about a double whammy of crappy Doors releases. Oh well, at least "Boot Yer Butt" is worth a lot of money now! :wink:

I was also very disappointed with that box set, sold it years ago for about $120 or so
