Miley Cyrus, George Clooney to play themselves in Bill Murray's Christmas Special
George Clooney and Miley Cyrus are to play themselves in Bill Murray's upcoming "Christmas special".
Parks And Recreation's Amy Poehler and Bridesmaids actress Maya Rudolph will also appear as themselves in the special, currently untitled, which reunites Murray with Lost In Translation director Sofia Coppola.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the special will follow Murray, who famously chooses not to have an agent or manager, as a dodgy Hollywood operator tries desperately to sign him. Further details about the special are currently unknown, but some of the famous guest stars will apparently be seen singing carols.
It's been rumoured that the special will premiere on Netflix, though this has yet to be confirmed.

That's hilarious! What that man can do with the slightest of facial expressions. I now have a hankering to rewatch Lost in Translation and/or Broken Flowers.

'A Very Murray Christmas' Trailer: Bill Murray Prepares for the “Greatest Night in History”
Bill Murray is concerned that none of his A-list friends will show up to his “Murray Christmas” special. A snowstorm has hit New York closing the airports and Murray feels chances are low for appearances by invited guests including Sir Paul McCartney (and even Pope Francis).
So goes the storyline for Murray who plays himself in Netflix’s Sofia Coppola-directed A Very Murray Christmas, set at New York’s Carlyle Hotel. The hour-long special features a star-studded cast including Amy Poehler who arrives to raise Murray’s spirits since the show must go on.
The film features George Clooney, Chris Rock, Miley Cyrus, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzman, Michael Cera, Maya Rudolph and Rashida Jones. One scene shows Murray singing a Christmas duet with Cyrus and while another shows him racing against the clock to make his show a success just when Cera expresses that the Christmas show is sounding like a “Christ-mess.”
“Tonight will go down as the greatest night in history,” replies Murray. “We have George Clooney.” Clooney’s attendance reassures Cera who asks Murray if he saw Monuments Men – a joke that Clooney overshadows Murray in the film – to which Murray replies “I was in it.”
The special is written by Murray, Coppola and Mitch Glazer, and executive produced by Coppola, Glazer, Roman Coppola and Tony Hernandez. A Very Murray Christmas debuts on Netflix on Dec. 4.

Looking forward to this, but that's the plot to Stephen Colbert's old Christmas Special.

As did I. It was choppy in places, the plot was thin and wry, but none of that mattered. It was Murray being Murray. Clooney made me laugh every time he smiled and Miley Cyrus managed to not be skanky. Loved Maya Rudolph singing. And Fairytale of New York is my favorite holiday song ever. So, yeah. See it. Enjoy.
