Has anyone picked up any of the three limited edition King Crimson collector's club live CD's?

From the blurb I saw...

"Live at the Marquee, London, July 6th, 1969 (featuring rarely heard material) and Live in Guildford, November 13th, 1972 and Live at The Marquee, London, August 10th, 1971 is a double CD featuring the band's 1971 incarnation at its most inventive and relaxed."

would you have a link? There a number of the Collector Club CD's (limited edition - but often still available). Or the numbers in the series? I have a few of these.

Guildford 1972 is a MUST have. One of the few live recordings with Jamie Muir.

I do not have these, but I am tempted to get them (maybe not the 69 - though of historical significance, the recording is admittedly not the best. Thanks for the info.

I've read that Marquee 1969 is an audie. That would rule it out for me.

Willy,

I have the entire KC Collectors Club Series and can give you an honest opinion on the quality of the recordings if you let me know specially which ones you're considering to purchase. Also; please keep in mind that some of the releases have been included in the multi-CD mega boxes that have been releases over the past couple of years.

Take care,

BG

Thanks BG - I have a couple of the boxes. I'm more interested in the earlier stuff. 1969 thru 1974 era things. Any input would be appreciated

Willy,

Not a problem. I'll start the project tomorrow, separate the '69 through '74 releases from the others, provide a description of each title by KCCC number to include whether it's a soundboard or an audience, and give you my best opinion as to the overall sound (although Dave Singleton still does a great job considering some of the source material he's had to work with, I'll be objective and conservative).

Take care and I'll post the information on this thread as soon as I'm finished,

BG

Willy,

These are the twenty titles I located in my collection from performances between 1969 & 1974. I listened to at least the first part of each track on each of the releases on my own sound system. I then grouped each release chronically by date and then by each of the three touring bands during that period (the three shows with Jamie Muir are grouped separately).

Because there's basically three distinct lineups and the fact that each of the performances in and of themselves are good, I rated the releases strictly on recording quality and whether they warrant repeated listening. Any title that’s listed ‘for Completests and Historical Purposes only’ is a release I recommend only if you’re trying to collect every single note the bands every recorded (I for one fall sadly fall into that category).

Anyway, knowing that this is a quick stab at getting you this information as quickly as possible and also that I've made a ton of spelling mistakes, I hope this information helps:
