>> 2007 digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition of the fifth and final album from the eclectic UK cult band. Stackridge combined elements of 10cc, Badfinger and Fairport Convention, creating a uniquely commercial approach to their art, yet never achieved the success they deserved. Disc One features the original unreleased version of the album as it was originally intended but rejected by their record label. Disc Two features the officially released version. Angel Air. <<

I have to admit I've never heard of Stackridge. Opinions/comparisons/recommendations, anyone?

See if these samples help, Greg ...

Here are some clips from their recent reunion tour:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cDGN_9w4-GE"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cDGN_9w4-GE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

This is the band in their heyday, on British TV in 1974:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pe_GUseMRmg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pe_GUseMRmg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

The Korgis grew out of this band. Sort of "Seventies English whimsy rock" somewhere in the vicinity of 10cc, Viv Stanshall, maybe Caravan ...

Thanks, Linda.

I could swear that's Leon Redbone (!) in the second clip (just kidding).
