I'm trying to think of examples of entertainment that were originally one medium, then were adapted to a second medium and then were adapted for the first medium again (as an adaptation of the second medium, and not of the original one.) What other examples are there of which you folks can think?
"Sabrina the Teenage Witch" (first it was a cartoon, then it was a live action show, then it was a cartoon again.)
"The Producers" (frst it was a movie, then a Broadway musical, then it was a movie again.)
"Hairspray" (first it was a movie, then a Broadway musical and then a movie again.)

Any number of stories that Disney has adapted for the screen have had adaptations of the screen version--Disney "Swiss Family Robinson" and "Winnie the Pooh" books come to mind.

Not exactly what you're talking about, but "Lost in Space" was based (or ripped off from) the comic book "Space Family Robinson," which later has its title changed to "Lost in Space."

Surely there have been a number of comics adapted to movies, that then get an adaptation of the movie in comic form. I generally ignore those comic adaptations of movies, so now I'm not sure which were adapted and which weren't - didn't the Burton Batman do that? Spider-Man? Probably many more.

Aliens and Predator started as movie franchises, then became comics, then had comic crossovers, then started a new movie franchise crossing over with each other

To put it back on track... It was a great comic, then the premise "borrowed" for a great TV show, which was later made into a different crappy comic and a semi-crappy movie.

I thought it was supposed to be quite clear around here that A is A, and their ain't none o' that A is B stuff.
Or, to get to actually answering your question, Stargate was a movie (A) that then became a TV series (B), which then was made into a movie (A again, but based on B). Or at least I thought they were making a Stargate movie...but it is a direct to DVD thing. So not quite back to A.

Zorro started as a pulp magazine feature in 1919 in All-Story Weekly, then was made into a film in 1920 (the inaugural picture for the new studio, United Artists), which prompted more magazine stories/books, which led to Chapter Serial presentations, more movies, comic books, TV shows, more movies, and then another book, then another comic, ...
Almost the same can be can said for Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Little Orphan Annie, Blondie, Peanuts, etc.

From what I recall it was supposed to be a Broadway musical at the outset but Brooks couldn't sell it and chose to turn it into a movie. So in one way it was a Broadway musical, then a movie, then a Broadway musical, then a movie.

One could look at a list of movie releases from the 1930s and create a list dozens of titles long for this. It was very typical to adapt stage plays during that period, especially in the early talkies. Practically every other movie was a play first. A ton of early Hitchcocks fit the bill, for instance, such as Juno and the Paycock, a popular Irish play adapted for the movies and then later a play again.
An interesting twist on this might be being adapted from A to B, then the sequels going back to A. Psycho is a good example of that. Hitchcock's classic murder flick was adapted from a novel by Robert Bloch. The film was a smash hit. Bloch wrote two sequels to Psycho completely unrelated to the film sequels. Pycho II the book came out in 1982, the film on 1983.

The Shadow started out as the narrator of a mystery anthology radio program in the early '30s.The character became so popular among listeners that a pulp magazine was created with him as its lead feature. When that became popular, another radio program was created in 1937,this time with The Shadow as the lead character. From there,The Shadow spread out and darkened other media.

An additional detail that illustrates how the pulps (and specifically the The Shadow and Doc Savage) helped usher in the era of famous character-based publications (carrying through to comics): The Shadow was the narrator of the radio program specifically created to promote/advertise Detective Story Magazine (he was just supposed to be a creepy narrator host character). But people kept going to their newsstand and asking for "that Shadow magazine." Street and Smith finally caught a clue and said "Why don't we call it The Shadow instead of Detective Story Magazine?" Almost a year later than the name change, they got around to actually publishing a story featuring the Shadow. And it was the bestseller for years. (Doc Savage came out soon after to be a heroic, "shining hero" counterpart book, also named after its title character)

Footloose was a surprise smash in 1984, and has enduring appeal. A stage musical version opened on Broadway in 1998 and ran for a couple of years. A big-screen remake reached theaters in 2011, with more of a country twist to the proceedings--including countrified covers of some songs from the original movie.
