I'm in for Crucify, and likely for Under The Pink. I never did find the Crucify single w/all the live tracks. Although the Zep cover from the other Crucify single is not here.

Also missing the cover of "Angie" from the Crucify EP. So that makes the EP a keeper.

I tried keeping up with Tori and all her b-sides / EPs / rare cuts, and US / UK, alas it was just too much, I think I gave up after the 3rd album. Disappointed they're not including ALL the associated non-album tracks on these, looks like the operative word here is "single" and not "EP". I might give 'em a go after I check my list.

I don't have all of Tori's albums, but of the ones I do have, these 2 are my faves...

I think I tracked down all these singles, but I might be able to save some space (IMPORTANT!) by getting these used later, and selling all those singles.

I used to have the Aussie 2 CD Pink.. Very nice. Re: both of them: AS LONG AS THEY'RE NOT BRICKWALLED REMASTERS, it would be nice to have everything in 1 place; though the value of my Tori cd singles just plummeted big time!

One apparent MAJOR commission: the SUPERIOR remix of Crucify from the USA EP

well, i DO have all the full-length albums;
but i gave-up on collecting the singles/ep's right after "little earthquakes;"
although i do have a hit-n-miss collection of them over the years,
and i do have the australian 2CD of "under the pink."

sad that ALL the singles/ep material isn't appearing on "little earthquakes."
the remix of "crucify" is one of the rare cases of the original version being inferior, in my opinion.
it'd fit on the two discs and it'd help me with a little physical space in my drawers.
(that didn't quite come out right. AHEM!)

Curious to hear sound quality reviews on these remasters from anyone who's heard them. Varying opinions exist on Amazon of course, although there were quite a few stating the artwork with these Deluxe Editions was atrocious! I'd like to hear about that too, but mostly about how the sound quality compares with the original CD's.

I have both version of LE. Will try to play asap & let you know. The "DR" is 1 lower for the remaster, that's fairly insignificant.

I also have the hi res of Pink, but that's not real comparable. There is no HR version of LE; I ASSUME it was recorded at 44/16.

The artwork is mostly just reproductions of various CD singles and EPs associated with the albums.

Never thought the original CDs sounded bad.

Agree as cd's go, I don't remember being upset at all. I have the entire catalog.

What I'd read was a few thought the album covers themselves and some of the photos looked like they were reproduced from a cheap Xerox color copier from the 80's. Is that true?

I don't think it's that bad - I can kind of see what they mean, but it looks to me like it was a filter that was applied to all of the single artwork. Think 'slightly faded'. I've really only listened to the first disc of "Little Earthquakes" (original album), and it sounds pretty good to me, although I do want to A/B w/the original - there was at least one spot where it sounded overcompressed.

I'll do an a/b of LE when I get back from the post office.

Alan, at what spot did you hear the compression so i can check it also?

Just realized I've got both remasters of Pink (cd & 96/24) so I'll compare that also.

I'm assuming that since at least 2 of the hi-res sites brought in LE at only 44/16 (& none have it in hi-res) that must have been the original recording sampling/bit rate. At that point about all one can do is mess with the volume & eq & add compression.

That can still have surprising result. Marillion's Misplaced Childhood was an eraly digital recording & the 180gm vinyl destroys the cd. It shouldn't, but it does.

Here's the DR's, then I'm off to listen:

LE: Original 11, remaster 10
UTP Original 11, remaster 10, 96/24 DR10

I want to say it was in "China" - it was one of those quieter, nearly vocals-only sections. It felt like it didn't get as quiet as it did on the original.

I'm in the middle right now, came downstairs to get the 96/24 of Pink. I definitely hear a volume difference. More pronounced on Earthquakes than on pink, but it's there on both. I'll check China. Also will have more to say. I hear a bigger difference between the 2 LE's then between the 2 Pinks, & it's not just volume.
