(Prog) Yes and Toto could be planning a US tour together, if comments by David Paich and Alan White are anything to go by. The musicians were interviewed separately at the NAMM industry convention, and both were asked about their schedules for the year.

Toto keyboardist and vocalist Paich said: "I think we're going to be touring the States with Yes - our heroes. We're very excited." He also mentioned the month of August.

Meanwhile, Yes drummer White said: "We're just coming off the last album right now; we're laying back, smelling the roses a bit, then we'll be back at it.

"We're looking forward to getting back out. I think we're going to be touring with Toto."

Believe it or not, Toto blows Yes off the stage at this point. If they play Westbury, I will be there!

I've seen Yes live 21 times.

I'd love Anderson back, but he's not there and John Davison is just fine.

Anderson isn't even on two of my favorite Yes albums: Drama and Fly From Here so I'm surviving without him just fine.

Interesting to note that the last 2 Yes albums without Anderson made the Top 40, and the last one with Anderson to make the Top 40 was in 1994.

It's still Yes.

I'd love Jon to come back, but I can't deprive myself of seeing any versions of the great bands.

one of these days you and i are going to have compile a list of bands that are NOT the same without their lead singer, even though they charge ticket prices like the original singer is still there.

i already know of 2 we disagree on.

i have to ask, would you go see the stones without jagger if keith and ronnie toured as the stones.

If I liked the singer, yes.

If it was a bad choice, no.

I am fan of a band NOT an individual. A band is a group of musicians.At the same rate, if Jagger left and the Stones disbanded I'd be fine with that too.

Nobody will make me feel I'm a sap or idiot or I'm being fleeced or misled-EVER.

If I see a band without a lead singer who has been there for a long time and it's good I will say so.

If it's a musical travesty I will say that too.

Sabbath, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yes, Genesis, Toto, Ultravox, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Journey, Styx, Chicago, Van Halen, Bad Company, Moody Blues, etc. all survived and some thrived.

What if the Moody Blues gave it up after Denny Laine left just because the main singer was gone? Or AC/DC? Or Deep Purple?

Anyway, this will be a losing argument.

All I can say is enjoy what you listen to and if something doesn't interest you just ignore it.

i guess it just depends on how important the vocals are to someone.

I only like 1 Toto song (Goodbye Elenor) & I agree with Renny on Yes. I also think this is an awful pairing, IMO other then Steve Luthaker & the 1 song I mentioned Toto is a small step above air Supply (commercial pap) & even w/o Anderson Yes has killer songs & players.

jon anderson is the forefront of the "yes sound" whatever that sound may be.

but i must admit i really like 'drama', but then again, i really like trevor horn, i only wish he would do more....especially a producers II......please

as for the last 2 yes albums, other than title cuts, i would venture to guess that are not too many people who can name even one song off of either album.

Whatever made the radio in Seattle in the 70's & 80's. Never liked any of it.

I seriously suggest you listen to any, or all, of these discs:

Kingdom of Desire (1992), Tambu (1995), Mindfields (1999) or the last one, Falling in Between (2006).

My personal fave of those 4 is Tambu. That disc rocks. All of those discs are wayyyyy different than any of the 70's or 80's stuff.

Saw Toto 2 years ago, came away very impressed. I've never seen an audience so happy and in to a concert. Can't wait till they come back to NY!

Geff, there's a whole lot more to Toto than just the few songs you heard on the radio 30+ years ago. As others have pointed out, the albums they released in the '90s & after are among the best things they've ever done.

I will be posting tomorrow about Kingdom Of Desire, Tambu and Toto XX as well as their first greatest hits compilation and a live album. There's some amazing material on those records.

OK, I will try to find some of their later work to listen to. There hits turned off so badly, that I really paid little attention to them.

I happen to love most of their hits, but they've covered so much musical ground over the years that there's bound to be something that will impress you even if it's not the obvious stuff.

Is Journey the same without Perry? Hell no!

But for carrying on, I still like the band-not the same, but to me it's still fun and Revelation was a great album. But, I thought Eclipse sucked.

Along the lines of your Jagger question...when Thin Lizzy reformed without Phil Lynott, to me that was not gonna fly.

That being said, as a fan I had to give it a try and I saw them twice as an opener (once for Deep Purple and once for Judas Priest) and twice as a headliner.

The first 2 times were with John Sykes a former member singing. I didn't care for it, but it was OK. A little hollow to me.

The next 2 times were with Ricky Warwick and I know some people think he's damn good, but to me he's fair and it's just not Thin Lizzy to me.

Now, I don't begrudge anyone for supporting it or liking it, but it's so vacant without the man who was everything for that band.

I am so very glad they changed their name as Black Star Riders when they started doing albums and those albums are not bad at all.

So, I take each situation on its own.

As for Yes, of course Jon is missed, but the band still plays big venues and sells enough albums without him that it's obvious a lot of fans are OK with him gone. I do hope he returns but with Howe, Squire, White and Downes up there it's still very much Yes to me.

My friend Sue is a diehard yes fan and was like you-she refused to go to any shows for years. But she;s gone the last two times with me and really liked Davison.

Thanks for bringing up Toto XX. I forgot about that one. That disc is a gem. I was blown away by it because all of those songs are leftover tunes from their first album on up thru the yeas.... and it sounds so fresh. Miss Sun is straight out of the Boz Scaggs world for obvious reasons.

Geff, here's one of my favorite tunes from Tambu. Please give it a listen to at least the first chorus.

Mark, nice choice of a song to highlight from :"Tambu." It's not my favorite from that album but it's a good example of what they were up to at the time.
